What's with the broken royal crest in the corner? —Preceding unsigned comment added by PianoMastR64 11:39, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If you hover your mouse over it, you'll see text that reads "Former Featured Content." It means, well, exactly that: at some point it was one of the wiki's Featured Articles, but was disqualified at some point down the road. Users at Zelda Wiki can vote for Featured Articles or Pictures that will be displayed on the Main Page for all to see.
By the way, don't forget to put four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This automatically generates your username and a time stamp. This is important as it lets everyone know who made the post and when. — Hylian King [*] 09:02, 21 July 2012 (EDT)

Non Canon?

On a Zelda website, they called the Wii version of Twilight Princess non-canon. I just wanted to know if that is accurate, because I see no reason why it is. Thanks! Darkness 22:56, 27 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

As I understand it, the GCN version of TP is widely accepted as more "official" or canonical because it's the original; the Wii version less canonical because it's mirrored (though I wouldn't say it's completely non-canon). The Hyrule map in the GCN version is more comparable to that of other games in the series than the mirrored version seen on the Wii. For example, the deserts in Hyrule are almost always to the west, but in the Wii version of TP, Gerudo Desert is to the east. In the GCN version, Link is left-handed as he's always been up until SS, but in TP on the Wii, he's right handed.— Hylian King [*] 16:04, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thank you, but for if a character appears only in the Wii version, (Such as the Cursor Fairy), are they canon or non canon? Anyway I thought the game guides for the Wii version were considered canon sometimes but the game itself is not?Darkness 23:29, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm really sorry for double posting, but, as an example, the Cursor Fairy is listed as non canon... implying that the Wii version is definitely non canon... Sorry, I'm confused. Darkness 11:57, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The cursor fairy is just part of the GUI, and has no impact on the story. Ergo, it does not have anything to do with canon. That's my take on it. Even the fact that the entire game is mirrored is more of a gameplay mechanic than a part of canon. In terms of canonical importance, I would say the Wii and Gamecube versions are basically exactly the same. I'd like to hear a second opinion about this. Dekler 13:37, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks! Should I add something about this to the Cursor Fairy page or just leave it as it is? Darkness 15:21, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As far as I know, there is no Cursor Fairy page, and I don't recommend making one, seeing as it would only be a stub. By the way, if you want to respond to someone, try putting a colon in front of your message, or two colons if you're responding to a response, etc. This way it's instantly clear who you're responding to. I hope you don't mind, but I added a few colons to your messages just now for that reason. Dekler 16:02, 29 October 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I had no idea! Thank you and sorry about the colons... and I was talking about the short 'Non Canon' section of the Fairy companion page... I mean I was asking if I could move the Cursor Fairy section into the Canon section of the page, or put a new Ambiguously Canon template, or just leave it as it is... GameCube stock in limited supply - worth mentioning?

I remember reading a rumor a while back that the GameCube version was canceled in Japan, and that just occurred to me lately for some reason so I looked it up. One of the first things I found was some announcements that the Japanese GameCube version was not available for retail. It was about half-right, though - apparently, the GameCube version could only be purchased through Nintendo's online vendor in Japan. That may explain why the price is pretty inflated for that version, as far as I can tell. It also explains why Nintendo almost seems to want players to forget about the GCN version outside of Link's Crossbow Training and official artwork, since it must have been a limited time only and most people likely bought the Wii release since it was easier to find. There's also the red reprint of the Wii release, so it's also pretty obvious that the Wii version is more common worldwide. Is the availability worth mentioning in the article? LinkTheLefty 22:22, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's an interesting point. I'd say there's definitely room for it in the "Trivia" section or perhaps somewhere in "Game Information." — Hylian King [*] 00:12, 28 February 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Maybe under Development? I think it would fit nicely after mentioning that there was a delay for the NA GameCube release. I want to clarify a few things first, though - I'm not sure if the case is that NoJ initially canceled their GCN release but then revoked their decision as an online exclusive after fan outcry, or if there was just some confusion with translating the articles. I'll add it once I find out for sure. LinkTheLefty 06:50, 28 February 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

A bunch of broken links

Are all of the links to the music in this article broken? Every one gives me a 404 File not Found error, but I tend to see those pop up a lot. I just wanted to ask before removing them. Thanks. User:Darkness/sig 13:26, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Zelda Universe moved its database, hence the broken links. The new ones can be found here. We could be uploading these as .ogg files on the wiki and keep them here, though.
Sorry for the late reply! — Hylian King [*] 00:41, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Question about the Jump Strike comment in Trivia.

'coincidentally, that screenshot also shows Link using the Jump Strike on the Temple of Time's Darknut. He normally can't gain that move until after the Temple of Time.'

I got the Jump Strike before the Temple of Time easily, as the required Howling Stone appears before it. Is the above statement then false, or have I just somehow accidentally cheated? I do not think I have. (This is on the Wii version.) Sakkeru 18:15, 31 March 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think you're right. You can obtain the Jump Strike after activating the Howling Stone at Snowpeak, which you have to go to before the Temple of Time. Also, I believe that the Golden Wolf appears in the Kakariko Village Graveyard, which is also reachable before the Temple of Time. I'll remove that piece of Trivia. HD Version for Wii U

Anybody heard about the Wii U HD Version of this game? --LTIan (talk) 02:35, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes, however as of now, it is only a rumor. That is why we have the game page protected. - Midoro (T C) 02:37, 29 October 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"several centuries"

The timeline section makes this claim:

"Twilight Princess occurs some centuries after Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask"

As covered here, that is very false. I'm not sure why the wiki decided to insist that the Historia was incorrectly translated, but it wasn't, and the wiki's false, non-cited claim appears to have spread past that one article. Gonna keep looking for other articles the false claim could have spread to, but I could obviously use some help. I'll track them hear to centralize the discussion.{{SUBST:KrytenKoroSig}} 22:27, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Hyrule: "It took place hundreds of years after the Child Timeline ending of Ocarina of Time and the events of Majora's Mask, an unknown period of time after the Interloper War, and during the events of Twilight Princess."
  • Ganondorf's Execution: "The results of this execution would be the roots of a much larger event far in the future: Zant's Invasion of Hyrule."
  • The Legend of Zelda (Series): "Like, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess is set hundreds of years after the events of Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask."
As discussed on the discord, the wiki isn't claiming the Historia was mistranslated, it's a site called "The Hylia". The wiki is still incorrect to claim that there was a mistranslation, but there is a line in the historia itself about breaking a peace lasting "hundred of years" which could be argued to require that TP is set more than one century after OoT, so assuming the historia outranks aonuma quotes, the only correction needed is on the timeline quote page.{{SUBST:KrytenKoroSig}} 15:10, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
