Talking, also known as Speaking, is a recurring ability in The Legend of Zelda series.

Link's Awakening

In Link's Awakening, Link can Talk to most Characters by pressing the A Button when he is near them.[2] By Talking to them, he can learn more information about Koholint Island and its villagers. Some Characters, like the Owl, the Wind Fish, or the Nightmares, will Talk to Link without him having to initiate a conversation. Mad Batter and ??? will only Talk to Link if he sprinkles them with Magic Powder.[22]

Link can also Talk to Old Man Ulrira and Bucket Mouse by using a Telephone.
