Tears of Nayru are Items in Skyward Sword.[1]

Location and Uses

Tears of Nayru are Sacred Tears found within Nayru's Silent Realm. There are 15 total Tears that must be collected in order for Link to prove his wisdom and earn the right to temper his Goddess Longsword with Nayru's Flame.[2][3] Tears of Nayru are stored inside the Spirit Vessel, a plant representing Link's spirit that is given to him when he passes through the Trial Gate.[4] When a Tear of Nayru is obtained, it will pacify the Guardians inside Nayru's Silent Realm for 90 seconds. After this period of time, they will awaken if Link is standing outside of the Trial Gate. The effects of the Tears will also be nullified if Link is caught by an Earth Watcher or Sky Watcher.

Upon collecting all 15 of the Tears of Nayru, the Guardians will return a permanent resting state and Link will be able to safely return to the Trial Gate with proof of his wisdom. As a reward for his accomplishment, Link will receive the Clawshots, allowing him to jump between Targets and meet with Lanayru in Lanayru Gorge.
