Template:Gallery List

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Purpose

Creates galleries for use on listings pages. Also used on location articles (including dungeons and stages) to list its creatures, enemies, stage items, or materials.

The data from these lists is stored for other purposes. When this template is used on location articles, each list is stored into the LocationFeatures Cargo table for use by {{Spawn Locations}}.[note 1] When the storeAs parameter is used, lists are also stored in the Sequences Cargo table for use by Template:Sort Value, Module:Sequences, and maybe someday Template:Translation Page among others.

If you wish for a page to store data for {{Spawn Locations}} without displaying a gallery, you can use Template:Store Spawns instead.

Usage

This template requires that files be standardized as per Guidelines:Files.

Tags

Each gallery entry can be augmented with one or more tags enclosed in square brackets ([]).

Variants

To generate filenames for unnamed variants of a subject, such as File:TLoZ Keese Sprite 2.png or File:TLoZ Keese Vire Sprite.png, place the variant name in square brackets after the subject's name. For entities which are only mentioned in text and have no image, place [No Image] after the name to display File:No Image.png. The bracket syntax can also be used to specify a custom filename, though this should be avoided in most cases.

Input Generated Filename
Game Entry
TLoZ Keese [2] File:TLoZ Keese Sprite 2.png
TLoZ Keese [Vire] File:TLoZ Keese Vire Sprite.png
ST Quiver ["50"] File:ST Quiver 50 Icon.png
TMC Hyper Pico Bloom [No Image] File:No Image.png
TMC Stained Glass [File:TMC Stained Glass Artwork.png] File:TMC Stained Glass Artwork.png

[Qty]

Used, in location articles, this tag indicates how many of a given subject appear at a given location.

Syntax: [Qty:n]

[Sublocation]

This tag is used to indicate that an enemy is listed in a particular location because it appears in a sublocation of said location.

For example, on the Jail article, the Rat entry is tagged with [Sublocation:Jail Maze] to indicate that Rats actually appear in the Jail Maze within the Jail. This generates a hatnote to explain this and ensures that Jail is not listed as a habitat in the Rat infobox—this would be redundant as Jail Maze is already listed.

Syntax: [Sublocation:x] where x is the name of a sublocation
or [Sublocation:x1:x2:x3] to specify multiple sublocations

Guidelines

List subjects according to a natural in-game sequence when one exists.

If no natural in-game order exists, simply list subjects alphabetically. For example:

(While some items and characters are encountered before others, Zelda games tend to not be strictly linear in this regard.)

Notes

  1. Module:Gallery List determines an article to be a "location article" (and therefore stores data for {{Spawn Locations}}) if the article uses any of the following infoboxes:
