"The Korok Trials" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]
Overview
In the Korok Forest, Link can speak to the Korok elder, Chio. He reveals that the Koroks have come together to prepare a series of trials for him.[2] Once Link has completed all of the trials, Chio believes he will be able to pull the Master Sword from its Pedestal.[3][note 1] There is also a tough trial designed by Chio himself.[5] He then asks Link if wants to test himself in the Korok Trials.[6]
If Link agrees to do it, Chio informs him that if keeps doing whatever people ask him to do, he is going to get conned eventually.[7] However, if Link asks about the Trials, Chio will comment that he is ride.[8] Chio explains that, by visiting all of the Ancient Shrines that are part of the Korok Trials, Link can be considered a true grown-up.[9] The Trials themselves are based on the those of the legendary hero, and every Korok must undertake them.[10] Chio, Hestu, several other Koroks, and even Great Deku Tree have completed the Korok Trials,[11] though Chio retracts that last statement and admits it was a lie.[12]
Chio introduces the three Shrine Quests: the "Trial of Second Sight",[13] "The Lost Pilgrimage",[14] and "The Test of Wood".[15] Chio asserts that Link can overcome anything if he is capable of completing the Korok Trials.[16] The Koroks have also prepared prizes for Link.[17] He encourages Link to show them what he is made of,[18] before asking if he will make an attempt.[19][note 2] When Link agrees, the Side Quest will begin.
After Link has completed all three Shrine Quests, he can return to Chio, who will be amazed by his feats.[22] Realizing that Link wants a reward, Chio will give him his prized possession, which is three Hearty Truffles.[21] [note 3]He encourages eating Food cooked with Big Hearty Truffles to soothe aches and pains.[24] With this, the Side Quest will be complete.
