"The Mystery Polluter" is a Side Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

This Side Quest is one of four that must be completed as part of "The Thunder Helm". When Link first arrives in Gerudo Town, he can find Dalia in the empty plot near The Noble Canteen. Though she is keeping it a secret from her mother, Dalia is planning on starting a fruit garden in the plot.[2] She has not yet figured out what she wants to grow,[3] but she promises to share her crop with Link.[4]

After Divine Beast Vah Naboris has been stopped, Link will find Dalia crying in the empty plot.[5] She explains that she was planning an orchard for the plot,[6] which she even began to prepare and clean.[7] However, Trash has begun to pile up in the water trough, which means she can not use the water for her plants.[8] When she is done speaking, the Side Quest begins.

Link will find Hydromelon rinds flowing down into the trough through the upper waterway. By following them, Link can discover the source of the polution, a Gerudo woman named Calyban who is eating Hydromelons. She is annoyed that Link is interrupting her enjoyment of her snack,[9] but she becomes outraged when she is accused of polluting the waterways.[10] Even though she knows that Dalia is upset,[11] Calyban sees no reason to change her ways.[12]

The look on Link's face ends up convincing Calyban to change her mind.[13] Stating that altruism is for suckers,[14] Calyban reveals that she would like to try a Wildberry.[15] She refuses to stop eating so many Hydromelons unless Link brings her a Wildberry.[16] She advises Link that they grow in the cold parts of the Gerudo Highlands,[17] and due to the danger of the area, they rarely appear in the market.[18] Realizing there is no point in only having one,[19] Calyban decides to ask for 10.[20]

Once Link has collected 10 Wildberries for Calyban, he can return to deliver them to her. Calyban is amazed at how delicious they are,[21] noting that there is no rind for her to toss away.[22] She says that she may stop eating other fruit entirely if she has Wildberries.[23] Realizing how selfish she has been,[24] Calyban leaves to help Dalia clean up the rinds.[25]

When Link returns to Dalia, Calyban has already cleaned up her Trash and left.[26] Dalia thanks Link for telling someone who could help about the trash.[27] She gives Link a Hydromelon that was given to her by Calyban as a thank you for caring about her.[28]

Since Calyban also gave Dalia Wildberries,[29] she has decided to grow them in the plot.[30] She welcomes Link to come eat the Wildberries in her garden,[31] which completes the Side Quest. Just as Dalia says, Link can come back later to find that three Wildberry plants have grown there.

Objectives

Stage Description
1 Dalia has been  working hard to start an orchard, but garbage keeps appearing in her water source, so her efforts are all for naught. What sort of vile polluter would toss his or her garbage away with such indifference?
2 The water source got polluted with garbage, so the water has become unusable. The cause turned out to be a woman throwing melon rinds away in the waterway upstream. She says if you bring her 10 wildberries from the snow-topped peaks of the Gerudo Highlands, she'll stop eating so many melons...
3 The water source was polluted with garbage, so the water became unusable. The cause turned out to be a woman throwing melon rinds away in the waterway upstream. In exchange for 10 wildberries, she agreed to stop eating melons. Maybe the water will clear up now.

Hurry back and report to Dalia.
Complete Dalia planted the wildberries she receieved from Calyban and said that it's OK to pick them once they grow in.

With the source of the water pollution cleared up, all that's left to do is wait for the wildberries to grow.
