"The Silent Swordswomen" is a Shrine Quest in Breath of the Wild.[1]

Overview

When Link speaks to Laine at the Northwest Gate of Gerudo Town, she warns him to avoid Sandstorms.[2] It is easy for even the Gerudo to lose their way in a Sandstorm,[3] which has made the Gerudo Desert a prime location for thieves and ancient cultures to hide their treasures.[4][5][note 1] Though Link is curious about this treasure, Laine admits that she does not know many of the details.[8]

Laine points out the nearby Swordswoman Statue to Link, explaining that there are more throughout the Gerudo Desert.[9] There is a rumor that the Statues lead to an ancient treasure, but Laine dismisses this as superstition.[10] Due to the Monsters that hide in the Sandstorms, however, Laine sees no reason to risk such a journey.[11] After this, the Shrine Quest will begin.[note 2]

Link can follow the Swordswomen Statues though the West Barrens. Along his path, he will encounter Monster Strongholds that he must either defeat or avoid. Eventually, he will come upon Kema Zoos Shrine.[12] Upon activating the Ancient Shrine, the Shrine Quest will be completed.

Notes

  1. If Link speaks to Laine after calming Divine Beast Vah Naboris, she will be relieved that it is gone.[6] However, she wishes something could be done about the Monsters and the Sandstorms, as she could then search for treasure.[7]
  2. It is possible to immediately complete this Shrine Quest by locating Kema Zoos Shrine before speaking to Laine.
