"The White Bird's Guidance" is a Shrine Quest in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

After completing the Main Quest "Tulin of Rito Village", Link can find Laissa looking out west from Rito Village, trying to remember the location of something she saw.[2] If he speaks to her, she will mention a Cave before greeting him.[3] She recognizes Link as the individual who helped Tulin end the Extreme Cold Snap, and she explains that it is now easier for the Rito to find Caves to scavenge Food from.[4] Laissa reveals that while she was looking for a white Bird, she saw a Shrine of Light inside of a Cave, but she cannot remember where it was.[5] At this point in their conversation, "The White Bird's Guidance"s begin.

Laissa mentions that that Cave was stocked with Mushrooms and Fish, and she reiterates that she found it while seeking out a white Bird.[6] If Link asks about the Bird, Laissa explains that she was on Vah Medoh's Perch in the morning when she saw the white Bird sitting on the shadow of Rito Village's spire.[7] She went to investigate, and though she lost track of the Bird, she found the entrance to a Cave instead.[8] If Link asks about further details, Laissa is unable to remember any beyond the white Bird and the Shrine of Light inside.[9]

At 5:00 AM, the shadow of Vah Medoh's Perch will pass under a stretch of Snow shaped like a Bird, which is situated west of Rito Village. When Link reaches the Bird, he will find the entrance to the West Lake Totori Cave. After traversing through the Cave, he will reach the Wao-os Shrine, which completes "The White Bird's Guidance".

Objectives

Stage Description
1 Laissa, a resident of Rito Village, can't seem to recall the location of a cave she found a while back. Apparently the cave contained a rock matching the one wreathed in green light beneath the village's general store.

If you ask Laissa again, she may have more information that could lead you to the cave.
2 Laissa, a resident of Rito Village, can't seem to recall the location of a cave she found a while back. When you asked what she could remember about it, she said that she saw a white bird sitting atop the shadow of Vah Medoh's perch at early morning. When she tried to go after it, the bird was gone, and in its place was the entrance to the cave.
Complete You found the cave entrance that had slipped from Laissa's memory. It seems that the spot was marked by a patch of snow in the shape of a bird, found atop the tip of the shadow of Vah Medoh's perch at early morning.

Inside the cave, you found a Shrine of Light.

  3. Hmm. That cave...where was it again? Oh, hello. — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
  4. Hey! If it isn't the guy who worked with Tulin to save the village. Everyone in the village is happy to stretch their wings again without them icing over. So thanks for that. And the end of the blizzard has improved visibility too. It's much easier now to find caves where we can gather food. — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
  5. I saw one just the other day, in fact, while I was flying around...but I forgot exactly where it was. It had a rock wreathed in green light inside it, just like the one beneath the general store. Just where did I see that cave, anyway? I found it while I was looking for that white bird... — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
  6. Yeah...there were mushrooms in it and a pond with fish. It would've been the perfect place to stock up on supplies. All I remember is that I found it while looking for that white bird. — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
  7. [There was a white bird?] Yeah. Have you ever looked up at the peak of the spire here in Rito Village? That bit jutting out sideways looks kind of like a bird's perch, right? We call it Vah Medoh's perch. Part of my morning routine is to head up there and bask in the sun as it rises. That day, I was getting some sun up on the perch, same as always, just when the dawn was breaking. Right about then...I looked to the west and saw a white bird resting atop the long shadow of the perch. — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
  8. It's weird for a bird to rest on a shadow, right? I was curious, so I went to go have a look where I saw the bird. Thing is, I couldn't find the white bird again after that. Instead, I found a cave entrance. It's kind of like the white bird led me to that cave. I don't know why I can remember all that so clearly, but not where the cave was... Over there? No, I don't think that was it. — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
  9. [Any standout details?] Hmm. Was there anything that stood out? Let me think... I was lucky to find it. I don't think the area around the entrance was anything special or memorable. But it was right next to a resting white bird. That much, I do remember. Deep inside, I could make out a rock wreathed in green light like the one that's beneath the general store now. Ugh. If I could just remember where I found it, we'd have one more place to search for food. — Laissa (Tears of the Kingdom)
