Throwing is a recurring ability in The Legend of Zelda series.

Link's Awakening

In Link's Awakening, Link can Throw Bombs and various Objects he can Lift from the ground. Throwing is required to defeat the Genie and Rover. It is also needed to Open some Doors and Treasure Chests in some Dungeons,[which?] solve puzzles, and break the pillars in the Eagle's Tower by Throwing a Ball at them. Throwing Objects at Enemies damages them.[3]

  4. Grab ⇒ Throw/Drop
    Grab the object by pressing the A Button. To throw the object, press the A Button. To throw a bomb, use the Control Stick to run and then press the A Button. To drop a bomb, simply press the A Button.

    After pressing a C Button to take out a bomb, you can press A Button to throw the bomb after tilting the Control Stick and running. If you press A Button while standing still, you will place the bomb at your feet.
