Thundra Plateau is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2][3]

Features and Overview

Breath of the Wild

Thundra Plateau is located within Ludfo's Bog on Hyrule Ridge. The Plateau features a variety of Zonai Ruins, including pillars and Dragon-head statues.[4] It is known for the frequency at which Lightning and Thunderstorms appear in the area.[5] When Link first arrives at the Plateau, it will be constantly under the effects of a Thunderstorm, which can be observed from a distance.

As Link approaches Thundra Plateau, he will hear the voice of Toh Yahsa, who instructs him to return the "four spirits" to their proper places to reveal an Ancient Shrine.[6] This starts the "Trial of Thunder" Shrine Quest. Throughout Thundra Plateau and in the surrounding area, Link can find four colorful orbs, which he must place in the four corresponding slots on the Plateau. Once all four orbs have been placed in their slots, Toh Yahsa Shrine will rise from the ground at the center of the Plateau, completing the Shrine Quest.[7]

During the "Stealth Mission, Side Quest, Urbosa needs Materials to keep her hidden while she investigates rumors of a Monster horde on Thundra Plateau.[9] With the Materials, she determines that the shadows from Lightning strikes made there seem to be more Monsters than were actually present.[10]

Lastly, as part of the "Beyond the Wall of Thunder" Side Quest, a Rito Monster hunter needs Electricity-resistant Materials so she can face the Monsters on Thundra Plateau.[11] Once she receives the Materials, she is able to reduce the number of Monsters residing on Thundra Plateau.[12]
