The Tri Rod is a magical artifact created by Tri, which bears their coloration and emits warmth. Tri lends it to Princess Zelda to help her escape from the Hyrule Castle Underground.[2][3] Afterwards, Zelda continues to utilize the Tri Rod to help Tri mend the Rifts appearing throughout Hyrule. The Rod allows its wielder to make use of Tri's Power to Learn and create Echoes of Objects and Enemies defeated in battle.[4][5][6] Each Echo has a cost to summon, which is indicated by the triangles that follow Tri. The Tri Rod can also be used to dismiss Echoes individually or all at once.[7] By pointing the Tri Rod at certain Objects and Enemies, Zelda can Bind herself to them, which makes them match her movements.

During the Main Quest "A Rift in the Faron Wetlands", the Tri Rod is confiscated from Zelda after she is arrested by the Deku Scrubs, though she is left with a Stick instead.[8] A Deku Scrub guard also shares their plans to use it as a Cotton Candy Stick.[9] After Zelda's escape, she and Tri find the guard using it to eat Cotton Candy, which angers Tri.[10] When the guard notices Zelda, they realize that she has come to take the Tri Rod, and Tri demands that Zelda retrieve it.[11] The guard insists on finishing their Cotton Candy first.[12] The Tri Rod is noticeably sticky due to its exposure to Cotton Candy.[13] The guard then reveals that its shape made it difficult to use as a Stick.[14] Feeling sick, Tri asks Zelda to clean the Tri Rod when she has time.[15]

After Zelda and Link defeat Null, the Tris return to rest with the Golden Goddesses, and Zelda ends up keeping the Tri Rod. Following the Credits, the Tri Rod can be seen within a frame on the wall of Zelda's Room.
