As Link approaches the battle area

The last insect should be around here...

I get a weird feeling about this place... Don't let your guard down.

Once the Twilit Bloat emerges from the lake
What?
Once Link sees the Twilit Bloat using his Senses

What... What is that thing? I've never seen anything like it!

Ugh, I HATE creepy things like that! Do something, fast!

When the Twilit Bloat is flipped over

Ugh... I don't want to touch it!

H-Hey! While it's flipped over, jump on and punish it!

Once the Twilit Bloat is defeated
Hey! Hurry up and pick up the Tear of Light that it dropped!

The Twilit Bloat's design appears to draw inspiration from termite queens and giant isopods; it has a hard, spiny exoskeleton covering its head, thorax, and six legs, cyan eyes, a pair of short mandibles, a pair of elytra that house two pairs of wings, and a massive abdomen with three pairs of orange, tentacle-like structures on its underside and six flagella-like structures on its rear. Its body is normally colored in various shades of pearl and tan, though changes to a dark purple tone when using the Sense ability.

Once Link, in his Wolf form, obtains 11 Tears of Light in the Lanayru Province,[note 1] the location of the final Tear of Light will be marked in Lake Hylia. Upon reaching the area and climbing atop a Raft in the marked location, the Water begins to bubble before the Twilit Bloat, sparking with Electricity and invisible, emerges to battle.

During the majority of the fight, Link must use the Sense ability in order to see the miniboss as with the other Shadow Insects. The Twilit Bloat attacks by swooping down to hit him or swimming through the water to ram into him, both while electrified.[3] Link must dodge its swooping attack before performing a Targeted Jump Attack on its abdomen to repeatedly bite it. After repeating the process twice more, the Twilit Bloat will fall into the water on its back, leaving its tentacles vulnerable to attack for a brief period of time alongside rendering it visible to the naked eye. To defeat the miniboss, Link must jump onto the Monster while it is in this state and attack all of its tentacles at once using Midna's charge attack, as attempting to attack the tentacles individually results in them recovering at a speed too quick to defeat the Monster. Additionally, if Link is too slow in destroying all six tentacles, the Twilit Bloat will recover, though it can be stunned with only one round of bites from then on.

Upon defeat, the Twilit Bloat will briefly writhe and curl up on itself before going limp and exploding, releasing the last Tear of Light Link must collect to purge the last of the Twilight covering Hyrule.
