Deku King and Butler genders
First off, I'd like to state how unheeded the standard you brought up on the Deku Butler's page is of "needing a citation for gender, regardless of ambiguity", when hundreds upon hundreds of character pages don't have a single citation for any of their genders. Secondly, I'd like to state the absurdity of requiring a citation for a kings gender when by definition, a king is a male monarch. That would be like requiring a citation for the Deku Princesses gender (which might I add, there isn't one on her page AND there's also no "citation required" next to it), despite her being a princess. The same thing can be applied to the Deku Butler, as butlers are men. Thirdly, the Deku King is referred to as "him", "he", "father" throughout the entire game. His page even already has quotations from the game that define his gender clearly. Requiring a citation seems extremely redundant when his pronouns are clearly stated in the game multiple times. Sorry if this comes across as angry, but I'm quite frankly flabbergasted that a citation would be needed for a character who's gender is so obvious. I would understand a citation being required if a character's gender is never stated in game and it's impossible to determine by any other means, but this is obviously not the case here at all. - This is the standard that all pages should be held to, even the ones that do not have the Fact template in place. While it may seem absurd to you, it's simply a way that we ensure pages are airtight. These citations that you mention where these characters are referred to by masculine pronouns are more than enough to prove that they are male, they should just be cited in the Infobox field as well. - Okay, I understand! I'll keep the policy in mind then for any future edits I may make to a character's page to uphold the wiki's quality standards. Thank you for the response Croxodile! King Kerog (talk) 18:31, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
