Wasteland Coyotes reside in the Gerudo Region of Hyrule, and as a result, they have adapted to Heat and arid climates.[3] However, they can also be found in the eastern reaches of Faron. They are known to prey on smaller animals but will attack people when the opportunity presents itself.[3] However, it is more common for Wasteland Coyotes to attack people, and they pose a threat to any travelers they come across.[3]

Like Wolves, Wasteland Coyotes are highly social Creatures that are never found alone, typically numbering at two-to-three individuals per pack. When a Wasteland Coyote spots Link, it will howl, alerting the rest of the pack to encircle him. They will then take turns charging at Link with snapping jaws, inflicting damage on contact. Wasteland Coyotes do not attempt to attack Link if he is riding a Horse or a Sand Seal. Killing a Wasteland Coyote produces either Raw Prime Meat or Raw Gourmet Meat.

Trivia

  • Despite sharing nomenclature, Wasteland Coyotes share few behavioral characteristics with true coyotes, which are generally smaller canines that rarely function together as packs. Reports on coyotes attacking humans are rare, and though hardy animals, they are not specifically adapted for the desert.

Nomenclature

The Japanese name for Wasteland Coyotes, Karakara Koyōte (カラカラコヨーテ), refers to the onomatopoeia karakara meaning "dry".
