Zelda's Secret Well is located behind Princess Zelda's House in Hateno Village, which is part of East Necluda.[2] While the Well was being dug, a hidden room that was once part of the House was discovered. Zelda had Bolson refurbish the room, and although it is Dark, it has a stable Temperature and humidity.[3] Zelda would utilize the room below the Well when she needed to work by herself and concentrate.[4] A wooden platform is built over a portion of the Water-filled area and contains simple furnishings, and several Brightblooms are used to emit Light. Zelda's Diary can be found on a small Desk surrounded by various Books and scrolls. An adjacent board has colorful drawings of Hateno Village, Zelda, a Hateno Cow, and Hateno School.

If Link reads Zelda's Diary, he discovers that Zelda prepared the Champion's Leathers as a gift for him, and she hid them in Hyrule Castle's Throne Room.[5] This starts the Side Quest "A New Champion's Tunic".

    Secret Hideout

While we were digging a well, I came upon a hidden room. It may have been connected to the main building at one time, but it seems it was forgotten as years passed... Still, it could be used again—with a little work on the more decayed areas. Hmm. I imagine something precious was once stored in that treasure chest... What could I put there?

  4. ↑ I commissioned Bolson, who taught his trade to Hudson of Hudson Construction, to construct the school for us. He seemed deeply moved by the request. This will be his final job in Hateno Village before he sets off on a journey. I had him add a secret room to my house—one that won't appear on the plans. It's dim but humidity- and temperature-controlled, so it's very comfortable. It's proven very useful when I'm working alone and need to concentrate. — Zelda's Journal (Tears of the Kingdom)
  5. ↑ Though the Calamity is over, its scars remain. A mountain a problems stands before us even as we begin to rebuild. No matter where I go to offer aid, Link remains at my side—a kindness that has taken a visible toll on his clothing. That's why I've put an order in for a new and improved Champion's Tunic, just for him. I just can't wait to see the look on his face when I surprise him with it! I'll hide it in the throne room so he won't find it until after our investigation. Even he would never expect that the torches are the key. — Zelda's Diary (Tears of the Kingdom)
