Zumi is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Zumi can always be found at Serenne Stable, either next to the Cooking Pot outside or next to Akrah, Onya, and Garshon in the rain. When talked to in the afternoon, she tells Link that he must be tired from his trip and wonders if he is a leviathan researcher.[3] Late at night, she is glad to see link Link because she thinks traveling on dark roads is dangerous.[4] Regardless of the time, she mentions ruins behind Mount Drena that are always dark, and says that no one who goes there ever returns. As a result, she warns Link and advises him to stay away from the ruins.[5]

If it is raining, she mentions how dreadful the weather is and that all she can do is relax in the stable.[6]

Tears of the Kingdom

Zumi is found in front of New Serenne Stable near a broken wagon. She states she's busy and refers Link to Sprinn at the counter.[7] If asked what she's up to, she'll explain how she found a broken-down Wagon and wants to restore it to use for herself.[8] This starts the Side Quest, "Horse-Drawn Dreams."

If Link asks about building materials, Zumi will direct him to a stash of unused materials.[9] If he asks about wild Horses, she'll explain how you can register a Horse if you catch one in the wild, but also comments on how it's a difficult task to catch one.[10]

If Link attaches one of the two missing wheels to the Wagon, or attaches both wheels incorrectly, Zumi will thank him but explain that it still won't roll correctly.[11] If Link attaches both wheels correctly, Zumi will thank him and state that all she needs now is a wild Horse to complete her dream.[12]

If Link then brings her a wild Horse, she'll ask if Link caught it for her.[13] If he refuses to give the horse to her, she'll state how she wishes to be able to catch Horses like Link can.[14] If he gives the horse to her, she'll express her surprise and gratitude for the gift.[15] She'll attach a Towing Harness to the Horse and explain how they work.[16]

After helping her out, Zumi will reward Link with a Silver Rupee, and also name her wagon after a combination of her and Link's names.[17][18] If spoken to afterwards, she shares her knowledge of Horses with Link.[19] She deems rainy weather as awful and waits it out under the New Serenne Stable Well's roof.[20]

  7. "I'm kind of in the middle of something, but if you'd like to use the stable, you can go up to the counter." — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  8. "After a long, tireless search, I found a wagon to call my own! Look at this beaut! OK...yes. Clearly it's a fixer-upper. But I can replace the missing wheels using building materials from the stable. Then I just have to catch a wild horse to hook the wagon up to, and I'll be set!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  9. "There's a stash of unused building materials at every stable. No two stashes will have the exact same materials. But they do have one thing in common—they're open for everyone to use, no questions asked!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  10. "If you catch a wild horse, you can make it your own. There are lots of them around here, as a matter of fact. It's hard to catch them though... You have to crouch down and sneak up on them, or they'll run away. Even after you DO catch one, you have to soothe the horse or you'll get thrown off. I always mess that part up..." — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  11. "My poor wagon. Maybe I have to admit it's a lost cause, and... Hm? Huh? Wha?! My wagon! It's... Hold on. On second thought, it doesn't look quite right. Did you do this? Thank you, but I don't think it will roll if the wheels are like this. The two of them should both click into place." — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  12. "It's fixed! Did you do this for me? Thank you so, so much! It's like a brand-new wagon, with wheels and everything! Now I'm only one step away from my dream of having a horse-drawn wagon. Of course, that last hurdle is the hardest. Catching a wild horse... As soon as I get near a wild horse, it runs off. How am I going to catch one?" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  13. "Did you catch this angel for me? It's just what I pictured. Perfect for pulling my wagon!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  14. "I see. Well, I wish I was as good at catching horses as you are." — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  15. "Huh? You mean that? You'd really part with such a wonderful horse? Thank you!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  16. "I'll just go ahead and put a harness on it. A harness if a piece of equipment that you can put on horses you own. With a harness, you can connect your horse to a wagon or an item you need to take somewhere. If you collect enough Pony Points, you can get one as a prize!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  17. "Thank you so, so, SO much. Here, it's all I have left after buying the wagon. I'm begging you—no, forcing you to take it. Please!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  18. "This wagon she dubbed "Zunk," a combination of your name and hers." — Adventure Log (Tears of the Kingdom)
  19. "I'm kind of an expert on horses, so if you want to learn more, just ask!" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
  20. "Welcome to new Serenne Stable! Awful wheather we're having, huh?" — Zumi (Tears of the Kingdom)
