Pedestal of Time appearances

This article is next in my little project, and I noticed that the Pedestal of Time's appearances in A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker are under the Theories section. I was wondering if we could just move them out of the theories section since it's pretty much implied that the Pedestal of Time makes an appearance in those two games. What was the reason that they were put in the theories section anyway? The ALttP appearance has so much in common with the OoT one that it's kind of hard not to see that it's still the Pedestal of Time: same shape and everything. Thoughts? I agree, they really don't need to be under a theory section since they have similar effects over time itself, and all hold the Master Sword. I say go for it.Steve 17:44, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I concur with Steve's assessment. My vote's full steam ahead. Link87 18:59, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Has the Pedestal of Time moved?

Discussing this with people I know, there seem to be two competing theories within the Child Timeline, concerning both Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess:

  • On theory is that the Pedestal of Time hasn't moved since Skyward Sword, and the Temple of Time built around it has never moved. This implies that Faron Province was the original location of Hyrule Castle (and its Castle Town), and this location was later abandoned with the castle and town rebuilt further west in Lanayru Province. Note that this would not have happened during the events of Ocarina of Time, because Child Link prevented Ganondorf from destroying Hyrule Castle and Town in the first place. The key consideration is whether the Pedestal of Time is allowed to be moved, or whether the Sealed Grounds it sits on are what lend the Pedestal its sanctity.
  • The other theory is that Hyrule Castle hasn't moved, and that it's the Pedestal of Time that has moved. It was originally in Lanayru Province in Castle Town, but after the events of Ocarina of Time, a new Pedestal and Temple of Time were built in a barely accessible corner of Faron Woods, probably so that it wouldn't be as easy for evil to reach it. A variation on this is that Twilight Princess's Sacred Grove is where the Sealed Grounds are located, and that the Pedestal and Temple had been relocated next to Hyrule Castle in Lanayru, but then moved back after Ocarina of Time.

Do we have any clear canonical clues as to which landmark it was that moved? So far, this article seems to assume that the Temple of Time didn't move. - Dermot Mac Flannchaidh (talk) 15:47, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Regarding the fate of the Temple of Time in the child timeline there is this quote from page 117 of HH which implies that the Temple of Time didn't move: "Traces of the Era of the Hero of Time: [...] The Temple of Time, home to the Master Sword's pedestal, has rotted away and lies in ruins within the forest." Well, the "moved" theory suggests that the original Temple of Time was dismantled immediately and relocated to Faron Woods, because Ganondorf's mayhem had shown that it wasn't safe in Castle Town. Therefore, it would have still occurred during the era of the Hero of Time. I personally prefer the notion that the Pedestal has never moved. But I do think it's worth considering that we cannot simply assume that the Pedestal never moved in the Child Timeline — or, rather, that whether or not it moved is inconclusive according to canon material. The discrepancy that the Castle and Temple were so close in Ocarina of Time and so distant in Twilight Princess cannot be ignored. - Dermot Mac Flannchaidh (talk) 06:03, 31 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
