"The Rito Rope Bridge" is a Side Quest in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Overview
After the Extreme Cold Snap in Rito Village has ended, Link can find Gesane and Juannelle at the broken bridge near the Lucky Clover Gazette discussing reconstruction efforts.[2][3] Although the Rito do not have the supplies to rebuild, Gesane has heard that the Hylians are skilled in such matters, and he asks Juannelle if she knows any carpenters.[4] Juannelle believes that the individual who built Lookout Landing could help, but she can only remember that his name ends in "son".[5] Gesane is impressed by his reputation, but he is unable to leave Rito Village as a guard.[6] He plans to dispatch an emissary in his place, though he is unsure if anyone is available to leave.[7] Afterwards, "The Rito Rope Bridge" will begin.
At Lookout Landing, Link can find Karson, who claims he has nearly finished building in the area.[8] Since he is soon to be out of work, he asks Link if he is aware of anyone who needs the assistance of a carpenter.[9] Upon hearing about the Rito, Karson recalls hearing that their bridge fell apart during the Extreme Cold Snap, and he notes that it must have ended if they are trying to rebuild.[10] Karson decides to offer his help, at which point he departs for Rito Village.[11]
When Link meets with Karson at the bridge, he can be seen informing Gesane and Juannelle that it is in worse condition than he anticipated.[12] Gesane apologizes for the Rito's lack of building supplies,[13] but Karson insists it is his fault for not bringing enough.[14] If Link asks what happened, Karson and Juannelle claim they are short 20 bundles of Wood.[15] Karson believes that could get more by chopping down the Cedar Trees nearby, but he compares it to taking on another project.[16]
Once Link returns with enough Wood, Karson is shocked and asks if he is certain he can have it.[17] When Link affirms it is for him, Karson will thank him.[18][19] Now that he has all of the necessary Materials, Karson invites Gesane to fix the bridge with him.[20] While working on the bridge, Karson directs Gesane, which involves Gesane catching a plank that was falling into Lake Totori and accidentally sitting on a support beam.[21] Karson himself puts the finishing touches on the bridge, which involves singing the Hudson Construction theme song.[22]
After finishing the bridge, Gesane is impressed.[23] Karson admits that he was concerned about the end result, but he is relieved that it turned out well.[24] He is certain that the new bridge could be hit by 10 blizzards at once and still not fall.[25] Gesane believes that Rito Village will start to feel normal again, and as a reward, he gives Link a Silver Rupee.[26][27] Karson decides to return to Lookout Landing, though he tells Gesane that he will be there if he ever needs help again.[28] Gesane is grateful, offering the same invitation to Karson in return.[29] Juannelle notes that the bridge has connected the Hylians and the Rito both literally and metaphorically, which she thinks would be a good topic for an article.[30] Once Karson leaves, "The Rito Rope Bridge" will be finished.
