Runes are special objects controlled by the [[Sheikah Slate]] that can affect the world around {{Term|BotW|Link|link}}. Runes are primarily obtained from the [[Ancient Shrine]]s scattered across {{Term|BotW|Hyrule|link}}. To obtain a Rune, Link must insert the Sheikah Slate into a pedestal to extract them.<ref name= "Rune"/> Upon extraction, Link can access that Rune's abilities by pressing the L Button and selecting the Rune.
