In the {{OoT|-}} manga's bonus story, which takes place before the events of {{OoT|-}}, the Deku Tree appears alongside his evil counterpart, the [[Baga Tree]], who lives in the [[Lost Woods]]. The {{Term|CoH|Great Deku Tree}} appears within the story of [[Symphony of the Mask]]. He is the guardian of {{Term|CoH|Deku Village|link}} as well as the {{Term|CoH|Skull Mask|link}}, and is called "Grandfather" by some residents of the village. During the course of the story, the {{Term|CoH|Great Deku Tree}} instructs {{Term|CoH|Skull Kid|link}} to retrieve the {{Term|CoH|Skull Mask}} from {{Term|CoH|Deku Hollow|link}}. After obtaining the mask, the {{Term|CoH|Great Deku Tree}} tells {{Term|CoH|Skull Kid}} he is meant to defeat {{Term|CoH|Ganon|link}} and dies shortly after. At some point prior to his death, he told the {{Term|CoH|Deku King|link}} to hold on to {{Term|CoH|Mask Magic|link}} for {{Term|CoH|Skull Kid}}.<ref>{{Cite|Oh yeah, the {{Color|CoH Blue|Deku Tree}} gave me this to hold on to.
