The Isle of the Dead is an island in Phantom Hourglass that can be found once Link has obtained the Northeastern Sea Chart. The isle is notably shaped like King Mutoh's skull. Located on the Isle of The Dead is the Sage's Graveyard, the Phantom Hallway, the Black Rupoor Maze, and many secret passages under the surface of the island. Stalfos are the main enemy on this island.  Found in the Phantom Hallway is the ghost of the fourth knight, Brant, who opens the way to the Regal Necklace.

Sage's Graveyard
After obtaining the Northeastern PH, PH arrives at the PH in search of the PH. Near the shore is a small cave containing the journal of the explorer McNey, who had surmised that the island resembles a king's head, and believes that solving the island's cryptic puzzles will lead him to the PH. Behind a bombable wall in the cave is a hidden room filled with PH and PH, whereby avoiding these traps leads PH to several PH containing a PH, PH, and two PH.

The Sage's Graveyard is a graveyard where nine sages are buried. Of the nine tombstones located there, six will give Link a specific direction on how to get through the Phantom Hallway. Three are unreadable.

Phantom Corridor
Exiting the cave takes PH to the island proper, where PH and PH await him. To the northwest is the closed-off sages' graveyard, while to the northeast is the pyramid-shaped tomb of PH, a knight of the . Inside the tomb is the Phantom Corridor, an endless series of rooms where those without the knowledge of the sages will never proceed. There, PH finds the remains of PH, whose lingering spirit warns him to escape by walking south. A nearby PH provides a hint to accessing the graveyard.
The Phantom Corridor is found in the only pyramid located the island. It is impassable unless Link obtains directions from the sages. At the end of the hallway is the tomb of Brant, the fourth Cobble knight, who gives the young hero the Regal Necklace in order to cease the tornado that is at the entrance of the Isle of Ruins.

Black Rupoor Maze
Starting from the PH in the island's southeast—the "king's chin"—, PH must walk 13 tiles east and seven north, then use the PH to access an underground passage filled with rolling PH and PH. Another bombable wall here leads to a hidden room filled with PH, a PH, and another hint. At the end of the passage, stairs lead to an elevated portion of the island representing the "king's eye"; a small containing PH is found up here. Firing an PH to the west will hit a PH that opens the graveyard's door.
This short maze is filled with Rupoors and Keese. The small Rupoors are valued at 10, while the larger ones are valued at 30. At the end of the maze, Link can find Rupees on the floor, pots, and four treasure chests with a treasure map, Courage Gem, and two ship parts. The Rupoors can be avoided by walking incredibly slowly (keeping the DS stylus close to Link), but the chances that Link will not accidentally pick up a Rupoor are very low.

<center>PHmap</center>
Inside the graveyard are nine PH which more PH hide behind. While three of the PH have illegible messages, the other six provide the directions through the Phantom Corridor. By following these directions, PH reaches the ghost of PH at his tomb. Recognizing the PH spirits traveling with PH, PH gives the young hero access to a PH containing the PH, which allows him to travel to the PH.
