After having major luck putting together a working Firefox search plugin for VGRC, I was messing around and realized that if Wikipedia has one, then why not Zelda Wiki? I've got one together somewhat (hobbled together from the Wikipedia search plugin and the VGRC plugin I made) and testing reveals that it works, but I need a copy of the ZW favicon in 16x16 png format. I don't check in this place often, so hit me up on AIM; you know the sn. --[[User:Captain Cornflake|Captain Cornflake]] 23:27, 9 October 2006 (CDT)

{{Archive List|2}}

Hi, I was wondering if you could delete '''Category:Creatures''' and ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time]]'' for me. ''Ocarina'' so I can move the article there to match up with the rest of the games articles, unless you feel like doing that yourself.
== Welcome to talking! ==
<br>Also, the Category links on the Main Page can be done by typing the same as you would to categorise that page but then putting a : in front, like this:
I'm once again out of retirement and working on Zelda Wiki again! So this talk page has been refreshed :) --[[User:GoldenChaos|GoldenChaos]] ([[User talk:GoldenChaos|talk]]) 14:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Finished with the jobs you requested. ;)
I can't find out how. Can you help me!?

:Thank you very much. :)

:I was wondering if you would think it useful to have a [[:Category:Articles for Deletion|category of pages for deletion]] so any pages someone thinks should be deleted could just be placed in there, or perhaps a general messageboard where people could leave requests for mod help, or just comments or requests for help from other users. We could also perhaps create something similar to [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Db one of wikipedia's deletion templates] (and by create, I mean modify the code of one of wikipedia's).
:Oh and also, if the disambiguation template is put in the disambiguation category, any pages using it will be put in the category to without putting the tag in the page. I'd make the change myself but the disambig template is locked. It probably won't make that much difference if we were to do it that way instead, but I thought I'd tell you. I may implement it with my Enemy and Boss templates. [[User:Ian Moody|Ian Moody]] 03:14, 27 Jun 2005 (CDT)

== Extension request ==
:Hey there. Because of how wikis are structured, we cannot delete your account. However:
Β
:*You are able to clear your "real name" and email address in your [[Special:Preferences|preferences]].
Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to install the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ParserFunctions ParserFunctions extension] so it could be used in templates? Thanks for your time. &mdash; [[User:Ian Moody|Ian Moody]] ([[User talk:Ian Moody|talk]]) 11:24, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
:*We can delete your user page.
Β
:Please let me know if you would like us to take that action. [[User:TriforceTony|TriforceTony]] ([[User talk:TriforceTony|talk]]) 00:47, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
: Looks useful, so I installed it. Thanks for recommending that. It wasn't as easy installing it through my laptop, though - my normal computer up and caught fire on me and died. Should be up and running again tomorrow when the spare parts come in. (Haven't you noticed I haven't been around doing anything? That's because my compy blew up. ;) ) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 12:25, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
Β
::Thanks a lot :), now I'm gonna go make full use of it in templates.Β  I haven't been active on this myself for months but recent changes and activity have spurred me into doing stuff again. &mdash; [[User:Ian Moody|Ian Moody]] ([[User talk:Ian Moody|talk]]) 12:35, 8 October 2006 (CDT)

Β
Sorry to bother you again but I'm having trouble with using HTML table code inside if functions.Β  [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ParserFunctions#Tables] suggests "setting $wgUseTidy=true; in your LocalSettings.php" might fix the problem so if that were possible I would be grateful. &mdash; [[User:Ian Moody|Ian Moody]] ([[User talk:Ian Moody|talk]]) 13:44, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
Β
: Done. Let me know if there are still problems. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 15:31, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
Β
I'm getting little errors at the top of each screen that distort the whole of the wiki's appearance, which I believe to be caused either by the extension or the variable I enabled after installing it. Are you also seeing this? If so, I would like to try disabling that variable and see if it solves the problem. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 20:36, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
:Yeah I'm getting them too.Β  I've posted a help request to [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Project:Support_desk#Error_messages_after_setting_.24wgUseTidy_to_true the MediaWiki support desk] but in the meantime it's probably best to just change it back to <code>false</code>.Β  Hopefully there will be a way to fix it properly but if there isn't I think I can get the template working another way; it's just going to make the code harder to read, but that shouldn't be a major problem as it shouldn't be edited that often. &mdash; [[User:Ian Moody|Ian Moody]] ([[User talk:Ian Moody|talk]]) 04:19, 9 October 2006 (CDT)

== Hey, I'm new ==
Β
Hi. I'm Dinoshaur, and I was wondering about this wiki. I've a few questions/requests.
Β
*Why are there so many pages that have nothing to do with Zelda? (e.g. Chrono Trigger, English etc.)
*Could we change the colour scheme? For one, the odd font colours and background are little painful on the eyes.
*Could we move some of the projects (Like the Firefox plugins) on to the wiki namespace? If we changed it to <font color=blue><u>Zelda Wiki.org:ZW.org Search Plugin</u></font color> and got a page for stuff like that (and possibly a category for them) it'd be more organised.
Β
Peace out! --[[User:Dinoshaur|Dinoshaur]] 12:45, 21 December 2006 (CST)
Β
: Hey there. I'll address your requests one by one...
:: 1.) This is probably one of the most asked questions. On top of offering a ton of Zelda info, we don't object to pages about Nintendo in general. While it's not the main focus, there is a category for "Nintendo," and there's nothing wrong with it, considering that the Zelda franchise spans far beyond just the games themselves. As for the nonsense articles like "English," they go into a category which was made for random, miscellaneous articles. Occasionally we get people who object to its existence, but generally people don't mind having a small category where random, fun articles can be created.
:: 2.) I just redid the layout to look like what you don't like. And it was one heck of a job. Most people don't have a problem with it, so unless I get confronted by a hundred people I think I'll leave the layout as-is. ;) (Oh, and if you're really seeing ODD colors, let me know - I see dark blue and subtle grey-white, which is definitely not hard on my eyes.)
:: 3.) That's a good idea, actually. I'll move it there.
:If you have any more questions/suggestions, just keep tossing them out - I love to answer them! (Except layout stuff, I might be too lazy to completely change the layout stuff.) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 14:46, 21 December 2006 (CST)
Β
Heh, very well, if you enjoy questions and requests so much...
*Could we add a "signatures" to preferences? There's a subst lock on it, so we need to get around that. It makes putting posts on talk pages so much more pretty. If you need the code, I could fish it out for you.
*Could we add a <nowiki>{{tobedeleted}}</nowiki> code? If we slap it on a bad or unwanted page, it could alert you or other admins to the page in mind.
*Is their other administrators other than yourself? Could I see a list so I know who to go to if there's a problem?
*One last thing, do we have a list of interwiki links?
Once again, thank you for your time. --User:Dinoshaur/sig 04:05, 22 December 2006 (CST)
Β
: Alrighty, let's tackle all this...
:: 1.) I thought that already was an option. If it's locked, I didn't know about it. Any idea how to unlock it? ;)
:: 2.) Sure. Again, feel free to make the template (or any others you wish to make). Make sure that the template puts the corresponding articles in the "Articles for Deletion" category.
:: 3.) There are MANY more administrators. In fact, they come from every website that manages this Wiki. While I'm the most active, they are not nonexistent, since they, too, work on the wiki. I do know that some of them might be gone for the holidays or are currently visiting relatives, so they might not respond to you. (I'm Jewish - my holiday ends tonight, and my present was the Wii.) If you want to see the full list, go [[Zelda Wiki.org:Administrators|here]].
:: 4.) No, I'm pretty sure we don't. Though, it would be helpful. ;)
: If you have any more questions, keep 'em flying! ;) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 13:31, 22 December 2006 (CST)

== Quote templateΒ  ==
Β
Can we get a Quote template?--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 10:34, 2 January 2007 (CST)
: Sure. Just make one. (As in, don't know how, and I don't have the time to find out.) if you can do Wikipedia's, that would be great - just search their's and make it here. If the colors are off, I'll find that and fix it later. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 14:06, 2 January 2007 (CST)
*I was thinking of making a quote template for well quotes.Β  I thought that we could take articles on people like Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, etc. and have a quote from every game that they are in.--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 14:16, 2 January 2007 (CST)
**Is it okay if I just copy and paste?Β  I don't really use Wikipedia, but I am part of some wikias and actually hosted on myself, so I'll just be taking it from my favorite one.--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 14:32, 2 January 2007 (CST)

== A Link to the Past ==
Β
For ''A Link to the Past'''s main picture, can we use the one from Wikipedia?--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 15:22, 2 January 2007 (CST)
: Sure, just don't copy the whole article while you take the picture! And on the topic of you last question - you can use any quotes template that suits you. As long as it serves its purpose. ;) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 16:19, 2 January 2007 (CST)
Β
== Abbreviations ==
Β
I've seen some articles that use "LoZ", "OoT", "TWW", etc.Β  Some of the titles are long I must admit, but can we put the whole name for article formality?--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 15:20, 3 January 2007 (CST)
:Might I suggest something? Maybe we can abbreviate them the second time after the title is addressed... [[User:Erebus|Erebus]] 15:26, 3 January 2007 (CST)
*Well that's what I'm talking about.Β  We could do that but then the article would look unprofessional and low-grade.--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 15:32, 3 January 2007 (CST)
Β
I believe that writing it out first and then abbreviating it would be good enough. I would like to comment on how many of the articles for items and such don't have the game they were for. I believe that should be corrected.
Β
*Why don't we use a system of pictures?--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 19:02, 3 January 2007 (CST)
Β
: Eh, if this is what the conversation has come to, move it to a different page... it doesn't belong in my talk page anymore... ;) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 21:10, 3 January 2007 (CST)

== Healing Items ==
Β
Could you change Category:Healing Items to Category:Health Restoring Items?--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 13:09, 4 January 2007 (CST)
: Eh, when I have time... right now, I don't. You can do it yourself, though. Just make the new category and switch the category tag in the articles. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 14:22, 4 January 2007 (CST)
Β
== Two quick questions ==
Β
Should the names of games look like this, '''''[[The Legend of Zelda (game)|Legend of Zelda]]''''', or like this, ''[[The Legend of Zelda (game)|Legend of Zelda]]''?
The second question is why do have some articles like [[The Godfather]] that have nothing to do with Nintendo?--[[User:Herbsewell|Herbsewell]] 18:50, 4 January 2007 (CST)
: 1 - it doesn't matter. 2 - because they exist. Check the category it's in an you'll see. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 14:10, 5 January 2007 (CST)
Β
==Userboxes==

== Deletion of Pages ==
Β
Hey, Jason,
I just proposed a deletion of the page '''1987''' probably completely naively. See, I assumed that I could go to a deletion page here and tell an admin to delete it, but there doesn't seem to be anything like that here. ''Can'' you propose deletion on ZeldaWiki? If so, would anybody here know how to respond and vote? Has a page been proposed for deletion before? Is there a no deletion policy? I copied Wikipedia's deletion template's text onto '''1987'''’s page because it wouldn't recognize the template. Please respond with any advice, including who would physically delete the page if that was the verdict. [[User:SeanMD80|SeanMD80]] 16:15, 26 January 2007 (CST)
Β
: This wiki isn't as large as Wikipedia, and there are not enough active members of staff to successfully complete an entire debate about whether to delete a single page. Moreover, most pages that need deletion are ''obvious'' candidates for deletion, they just need to be found. Such is the case with 1987. Our current system is to move it into the category "Articles for Deletion", and then any sysop will have a look at it in there and do what they please with it. I suppose it wouldn't kill a person to put a reason in the talk page as to why they moved it into Articles for Deletion, but beside that, there is no real deletion system, not unless the wiki grows to abnormally large proportions like Wikipedia.
Β
: Also, keep in mind that templates don't come with MediaWiki. The templates you see in Wikipedia have been made by the userbase and staff of Wikipedia, not by the MediaWiki developers themselves. Most templates you would like to use probably do not exist because this wiki has not yet found a use for them, such as the deletion template. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 17:08, 26 January 2007 (CST)
Β
Thanks a lot for your patience. [[User:SeanMD80|SeanMD80]] 15:53, 29 January 2007 (CST)

==Templates==
Β
I noticed that you deleted a few of the templates ive made.Β  at first i was a little angry, comsidering it took alot of work, but i can understand why you got rid of them.Β  For instance, the islands template was huge and most of the arrticles didnt exist or were stubs.Β  The enemies Template just lists some of the enemies that have been seen in a lot of the games, so i brought that one back.Β  If there are any other templates you would want me to make or edit, just let me know.--[[User:Widkid85|Samson W.]] 14:45, 24 February 2007 (CST)
Β
: Sure, and I apologize for deleting them without telling you first - that was totally wrong of me. However, in my absolutely lame defense, I had just gotten home from vacation and didn't want to wait to get rid of weird, bulky templates... ;) Anyways, I don't mind the Enemies one as long as it's nice and compact the way it is, and expresses the most commonly seen enemies. The template should have the title "Common Enemies in the Legend of Zelda Series" (or something MUCH shorter :P) - me being impatient, I'm going to head to the template right now and figure it out. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 18:27, 24 February 2007 (CST)
Β
That fine.Β  You shouldnt be worried about just anyone making navigation templates though, they take alot more work to make then to get rid of.Β  Navigation templates are very important, and are very helpful.Β  when i joined this wiki it didnt have any and that was the onl reason this wiki wasnt as good as the other i'd found. It took a while, but i figured out how to make them, and i added them, and i think it's alot better now.Β  I want to work on categorizing things better now, so ill try and find a better way.
Β
Wow, i was just on the other, less good zelda wiki [[http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page]], i saw that they had already uploaded pictures that i put on this wiki just 2 days ago.Β  I was very lucky to find such awesome ganondorf art.Β  but its ovious they took it off this wiki because it still has the same crazy filename ive given it.Β  this goes for quite a few pictures.Β  Also the Epona pages are almost exactly the same.
On the legend of zelda series wiki page, there is a message that says that the other wiki should be the only one listed and no other Zelda wiki should be added.
I dont know if this is a big deal or not, but it just kinda buggs me that their just stealing what we have.Β  Still this wiki will always be way better then the other one.--[[User:Widkid85|Samson W.]] 21:40, 1 March 2007 (CST)
Β
Β
==== Suggestion ====
I started looking into the templates and realised that there are a lot more than I actually knew about; some are very useful. It made me wonder, would it be possible to create a page displaying all of the available templates (something like [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Template_messages/General this]) so that everyone could see what templates are available for use? I realise that we already have Categories for '''Navigation Templates''' (which, as discussed above and I agree, is sufficient as it stands), and '''Notice Templates''', which doesn't list all of them (missing [[Template:Stub]] & [[Template:Accuracy]], and I ended up making a bit of a mess by trying to add one!)
Β
What I think is really missing is a list of the Layout/Formatting templates, such as:
*[[Template:Game]]
*[[Template:Enemy]]
*[[Template:Boss]]
*[[Template:Dungeons]]
*[[Template:User]]
*[[Template:Infobox CVG]]
Β
[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 06:29, 29 March 2007 (CDT)
Β
: That might be a good idea, but I think there should be more a wealth of templates before then. We don't have too many, which is why I never bothered putting them on one page - but if the number were increased, yes, something like that would be done. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 14:12, 29 March 2007 (CDT)
Β
::Good point, I guess there aren't too many of them... In that case, anyone want to have a go at making the above "wanted" templates? (BTW, did I miss any other major ones from the above list?) [[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 15:41, 29 March 2007 (CDT)
Β
I made most of the navigation templates.Β  I did make a masks template and a songs template.Β  There are just too many masks and too many songs to list on a template, they were fat and larger then the articles themselves.--[[User:Widkid85|Samson W.]] 00:03, 8 April 2007 (CDT)
Β
: So then could they be wanted because some articles still have the template stuck on 'em that we forgot to remove during that cleanup? o_O --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 04:59, 8 April 2007 (CDT)
Β
::OK, I hadn't realised that they were deleted navigation templates, I've removed the links from all articles. [[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 01:48, 22 April 2007 (PDT)

== Downtime ==
Β
First of all, great to see the wiki back alive and well, and with all recent edits in-tact; well done! I have found a slight problem though: [[Special:Newimages]] all but one of the recent image uploads seem to be corrupted (unless it's just a problem with my browser), so I guess new versions will need to be uploaded...
Β
: Alrighty; I'll check and see if I have those images. If I do, I'll reupload them, if not, the it'll be up to the users to do so, or I'll delete the image files from the database altogether so that it doesn't give a nasty error. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 05:11, 15 April 2007 (PDT)
Β
: Alright; I just deleted the images. It seems those few images didn't get backed up due to one image that had an awkward file name, and stopped the backup. Lucky that it was only a few images, eh? Nothing that isn't replaceable. All other images seem fine. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 05:32, 15 April 2007 (PDT)

Β
== Vandalism ==
Β
Am I the only one who's noticed that the level of vandalism has suddenly drastically increased? I'm starting to get pretty sick of undoing "deleted all content", and removing huge blocks of spam weblinks. We really need to get some of these users banned straight away (in accordance with the wiki's [[Quality standards]]). Jase, I did send you an email about the users in question, and the list is growing steadily... --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 11:38, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
Β
: Thanks for the info; I've been kind of away recently due to studying and AP exams coming up next week and the week after, so expect me to be a bit idle. I'll have a look at the list and do some nice banning for now. If you want, you can keep informing me by email what IP's and such need banning, and I'll do that as soon as I get the chance (I check my email every day). However, please don't obligate yourself to be the Wiki's vandalism watchdog. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 12:12, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
Β
::First, thanks for your quick response, and I apologise for the harsh tone of my message above; I just read it back and I didn't mean to sound so obnoxious, I was just getting frustrated! Also, please don't think I was judging you, I get that you have a life like the rest of us (guess I've just had a bit too much free time on my hands the last week or so...).
::Also, about the vandalism; I hear what you're saying; I do have a tendency to lumber myself with responsibilities unnecessarily. It's just that I've put in a lot of hours here recently, and it really galls me to see so many people's hard work (including my own) being destroyed by a few selfish people.Β  So I'll keep mailing you IPs to be banned as and when they crop up. Thanks again --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 13:52, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
Β
::: Hah, that's not what I meant at all, nor did I even think for a second your tone was harsh... like you said, I thought you were just putting too much load on yourself. There's a reason why I'm not asking you to be a sysop or anything ;)... you'd kill yourself! Plus, if I did, then it would look like the only truly active members of the wiki were staff... :P... aha, off topic. Anyways, I also didn't think you were judging me. If anything, my tone was a little off from what it normally is, which probably led you to believe I was serious or stern and whatnot, which is never the case. Sometimes I feel like typing a little more formally, while other times it'll be strewn with smilies. Don't take it to heart unless I say something about it directly - through the years, I've become impatient with obnoxious members and such, so I've ended up saying something if they actually peeve me. You don't. ;) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 18:13, 4 May 2007 (PDT)
Β
Sorry to keep bugging you, just noticed that the [[Spam Blacklist]] doesn't seem to have stopped the linkspam (and clearly banning individual IPs has no real effect, makes me feel better though :). It seems there may be other, more effective methods, although they are somewhat more intrusive. I've seen something like [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Spam#Captcha this] used on another wiki so that, basically whenever you try to save an edit which contains an external link, you have to do one of those "type what is shown in this image" things. As long as the spam is automated (which most of it seems to be), that would work, and would only impact on very few genuine edits. Another, more drastic possibility would be blocking all IP edits, forcing everyone to log in. Although that might encourage spam user-registartions, which would be an even bigger problem! Either way, it's driving me nuts... --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 12:58, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
:I was trying to avoid using a captcha, mostly because I hate them do death and find them annoying. However, all my efforts to make the SpamBlacklist work have failed - I can't figure out WHY it isn't working, and I'd like to know. However, a captcha would solve all of our issues. I suppose I'll have to do it. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 18:42, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
::Alright. Installed captcha. Now I need to see if it works. [http://www.zeldauniverse.net/ Here's a test link to ZU.]
:::Captcha works. --[[User:69.115.161.97|69.115.161.97]] 18:51, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
::I know, I hate them too (mostly because I'm usually too dumb to read them correctly!) But I think given the very small amount of edits where users are genuinely adding an external link, the level of intrusion will be minimal (compared to the effect of the spam itself.) I suppose this is the price we pay for for progress! --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 00:17, 26 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
Just as soon as one problem is solved, another appears!! I'm sure you've seen the new type of vandalism that's become prevalent, like [http://www.zeldawiki.org/index.php?title=Help:Contents&curid=952&diff=51376&oldid=51359&rcid=51578 this]. It seems like the same automatic IP-only edits as before, except instead of adding links, they are just insering random nonsense at the start of pages (which bypasses the captcha). It started a few weeks ago with one or two a day, and has steadily grown. I'm starting to see the same patterns emerging, like the same pages (particularly talk pages) being repeatedly targeted. I guess the next step might be to ban edits from users who aren't logged in? I'm really concerned though that doing that might just cause things to escalate further (like prompting fake user registrations). Any other options you can think of? --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 15:13, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

It seems somehow that nearly all edits made in the last 6 hours gave disappeared.

everything that myself and others did seems to not have been saved. I was reviewing the recent changes and saw that [[User:42bens|42bens]] had completed the [[Ring Appendix]] by creating all of the Wanted Pages. At the same time I uploaded a number of images and categorized the uncategorized pages. In their place are just a few edits which I don't recall being there originally. While the edits can be re-done, it's somewhat worrying that data has just vanished, without there having even been any noticeable coinciding downtime. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 16:44, 4 July 2007 (PDT)

I noticed the same thing. Is there no way that the data can be gotten back without there having to be a whole redoing? [[User:42bens|42bens]] 17:22, 4 July 2007 (PDT)

: We were shifted servers, actually. That would explain the loss of content. You see, the server we were on was getting full (it's a shared host), and thus the hosting company, who rawks, decided they wanted to move us to a server that's empty so that the site can run fast. For free. :D
Β
: I'd say it was worth it for a bit of content loss. ;) --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 09:14, 6 July 2007 (PDT)

::Definitely; I'm just relieved that it's not indicative of some kind of possibly recurring problem. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 10:18, 6 July 2007 (PDT)

=='Bad' Pages==
I have recently noticed that there have been many articles made by random IPs that are just bad. Bad as in are nothing at all. Is there a way that these can be deleted or something so that they don't clutter the site? A few recent examples would be everything done by [[Boughtadog]] [http://www.zeldawiki.org/Special:Contributions/Boughtadog] or [[190.50.132.89]] [http://www.zeldawiki.org/Special:Contributions/190.50.132.89] recently, [[Majoras wrath]], or ''Fresh Prince''. I expect that you probably already do some sort of check on all new pages, but my gosh the fact that anyone would vandalize like that is just outrageous. If there is any way that I could help with this problem, please tell me. Thank you Jase! A minor IP lock might do it... [[User:42bens|42bens]] 21:09, 31 July 2007 (PDT)

:They were all pretty much channers coming in and vandalizing the site. [[User:Lozzie|Lozzie]] 22:58, 31 July 2007 (PDT)

:As far as I can see, all of the usernames involved in the attack on the wiki have been blocked now, including separate IP blocks. Unfortunately all of the damage has to be undone manually (unless anyone here knows anything about creating/using bots?). I've deleted all of the new pages created recently which were just spam, and as far as I can tell the vandalism to existing articles has now all been reverted (thank you for all your hard work!) --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 23:09, 31 July 2007 (PDT)

==Image problems==
Β
Hi. Any progress with the image thing yet? As far as I can tell, it seems to affect everything uploaded after the 22nd. These new images can be increased in size, but none of them can be thumbnailed or reduced in size in any way, and none of the images older than the 22nd seem to be affected. I uploaded a smaller version of the logo onto the main page to fix it, 'cos that was annoying me. Also, saying that none of the older images are affected, I came across one which I uploaded in March where the thumbnail still works, but opening the full image gives an error: [[:Image:Sage.jpg]]. Worrying... --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 09:55, 1 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
: First of all, thanks for uploading the small logo version - I had just made one and was going to upload it, but it turns out you already had done it. Second, I don't get an error when I click on that image link to view the full image. It seems the problem only persists when creating a thumbnail of abnormal size (anything other than 180px default). I have a lead as to how this may be fixed. I'll be working on it a bit later today - going out for lunch right now, however. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 10:10, 1 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
::I was unable to find a quick solution on my own. In the interests of time, I'm just going to ask about it on the MediaWiki support page thing. This problem has happened on other wikis before, so there's no reason why someone wouldn't know a fix. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 06:24, 2 August 2007 (PDT)

: Posted my opinions. I'm sorry that I'm a bit inactive - there are some things going on on my end and I have quite a bit of work on top of that. Within the next two or so weeks, though, I'll probably be back to full activity levels. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 16:14, 4 August 2007 (PDT)

==YouTube==
Β
Is it possible to embed a YouTube video into an article? They've done it at [http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Belias The Final Fantasy Wiki], using the <youtube> tag, which doesn't work within ZW. Might be a nice feature to be able to include a select few gameplay clips in certain articles. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 16:18, 9 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
: Sure; I'll look into it during the next few days. But are you sure you aren't the only one editing articles? :P... all I see is your name! I love what you're doing, but are you making time for important things in life? --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 18:57, 9 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
::Is that a polite way of trying to tell me to bugger off? .... just joking ;) I hear what you're saying, and I've asked myself the same thing. But to be honest, editing ZW has replaced some other stuff to become my main leisure activity. I used to spend quite a few (read too many) hours a day playing games (and not just Zelda :)) or just watching TV, so I guess I feel that now I'm at least spending my time doing something constructive (even if I do miss one or two shows!) However, I'm slightly worried by the fact that I still have well over 300 images on my HDD to potentially be uploaded. Guess I'll leave that to 42bens for the time being :) Anyway, thanks for your concern; and since I forgot to ask, how are things going for you over at ZU? --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 00:11, 10 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
:::Actually, that's why I've been less active. I'm current doing something involving ZU that's taking up a lot of time, but I should be all done with it after the weekend, latest being next week. I can say that this whole time has been crazy, and you'll know why later when I'm done with it ;). --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 10:50, 10 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
:[[New Extension: Videos|This]] is perfect, exactly what I had in mind! I think this'll make a really nice improvement to certain articles. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] 15:13, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

==Error/Glitch==
Β
Hi, seems we have a problem. I don't know if any changes to the wiki have been made recently, but now it seems some/all of the infobox templates are faulty; see our featured article [[ZeldaInformer]] for example! I know this wasn't happening previously. Another user has identified this [[Talk:Main_Page#Problem|here]], and affected a temporary fix on some of the templates (e.g [http://www.zeldawiki.org/index.php?title=Template:Boss&curid=2138&diff=47272&oldid=45776 Template:Boss]), but obviously the root issue needs to be addressed. Any ideas? --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 03:08, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
:That code looks altogether extraneous. I just got rid of it. That is the fix. --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 04:25, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
::OK. But by taking that out, it means that empty boxes don't collapse like they used to, but appear empty: [[Freshly Picked - Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland]]. It used to be that you could use the Enemy template and the only mandatory fields were Game and Effective Weapon, but now Habitat and Spoils appear on all enemy pages. --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 04:37, 25 August 2007 (PDT)
Β
:::Hmm, alrighty then. I'll have a closer look into the issue a bit later today. Have some work to do - doing the before-school post-procrastination do-your-work rush :P --[[User:GoldenChaos|Jase]] 05:34, 25 August 2007 (PDT)

::::lol, I know it well :) Take your time! --[[User:Adamcox82|Adamcox82]] 05:43, 25 August 2007 (PDT)

If you have access to the server running this wiki, could you please install [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:LilyPond the LilyPond extension] (note that it requires software to be installed on the server)? Welcome to talking!

I'm once again out of retirement and working on Zelda Wiki again! So this talk page has been refreshedΒ :) --GoldenChaos (talk) 14:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I want to delete my account!

I can't find out how. Can you help me!?

Cuttlfish59 (talk) 00:09, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey there. Because of how wikis are structured, we cannot delete your account. However:
  • You are able to clear your "real name" and email address in your preferences.
  • We can delete your user page.
Please let me know if you would like us to take that action. TriforceTony (talk) 00:47, 28 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
