King Dodongo's gaming debut was in Ocarina of time. He is the second boss. You fight him in a room with a lava pit in the middle. And if he doesn't move, it will burn Link to a crisp, or squash him flat. All Link has to do is throw a bomb into its mouth while it is sucking in air. Then when it falls to the ground, give it a slash with your sword.

OoT3D is the second OoT3D fought in OoT. It appears inside OoT3D, where it must be defeated for OoT3D to receive the OoT3D from OoT3D. It is a massive OoT3D that will consume anything. Though it was originally the protector of the , OoT3D drove it into a frenzy, making it hostile to intruders.

To ready an attack, King Dodongo inhales air and releases a blast of damaging flame if allowed to inhale completely. During this time, Link can toss Bombs, or a nearby Bomb Flower, into its mouth. If successful, the bomb will explode inside, causing King Dodongo to collapse. King Dodongo is vulnerable to Sword attacks at this time, the Critical Point of the battle. If Link does not apply enough damage during the Critical Point, King Dodongo will rear up, curl into a ball, and roll around the arena. If Link stands close to the lava, the external walls, or hides beneath or behind the Shield, he can avoid damage. King Dodongo hits an arena wall at the end of its rampage; it unfolds and moves about until Link is close enough to target again, repeating the cycle.

When defeated, King Dodongo curls into a ball and rolls into the lava pit. The lava hardens, trapping King Dodongo, half-submerged. Link receives a Heart Container as a reward.

In SSBB, King Dodongo appears as a Sticker.

In HW, HWDE appear as HWDE that are encountered in several HWDE and HWDE stages. In HWDE, HWDE appear in the HWDE "HWDE", "HWDE", "HWDE", "HWDE", and "HWDE". Not all HWDE where they appear require the HWDE to defeat them.

HWDE differ from their previous incarnation as they bear golden scales, two red horns on both sides of their head, red claws, and red crystals running along their back and joints. In "HWDE" and "HWDE", HWDE appear more closely resembling their - appearance. HWDE attack with a variety of moves, such as curling and rolling into a ball, stomping their claws, roaring loudly, breathing streams of flames, or by launching HWDE after inhaling deeply. These attacks also harm nearby HWDE. Because of their immense size, they take minimal damage from most attacks. They become vulnerable when HWDE are thrown down their throats as they suck in air, which stuns them and exposes their HWDE.

HWDE may drop their as HWDE or one of their as a gold Material when defeated.

Trivia
*In OoT, OoT3D and OoT3D share a battle theme that is different from the one that plays for all other OoT3D.
*OoT3D has the lowest amount of health in -. It can be defeated with two OoT3D while using OoT3D.OoT3D<!--The previous reference here linked to a YouTube video (https://youtu.be/ZAUkdQtUtpw) that is no longer available.-->
*SSHD, a SSHD from SS, almost perfectly parallels with Series from -. Both serve as the second Series of their game, both are a large, four-legged beast, both can curl up into a ball and roll around in order to move faster, and both live in a or and are commonly associated with Series. Furthermore, both Series are defeated by Series by throwing a Series into the mouth of the Series as it sucks up air to prepare an attack, allowing Series to attack it while it is stunned.
