::::I'm not sure if this really changes anything, but I just want to point out that in the Japanese version of A Link to the Past, both the dungeons and locations had identical names. The Thieves' Town and Village of Outcasts are both simply called Village of Rogues in the Japanese version, while Skull Woods and Skeleton Forest are both alternate translations of the same thing (Skull Woods being the accurate one). Misery Mire and Swamp of Evil is another example, both the dungeon and the location are known as the Devil's Swamp in the Japanese game.

::::So my basic point is that Thieves' Town in ALBW is intended to have the same name as the Village of Outcasts, much like the Misery Mire is intended to have the same name as the Swamp of Evil. That's why the locations appear to be named after the old dungeons, rather than the old locations.

::::This doesn't really change anything as we work with the localized names and these technically aren't the same locations as they're in Lorule (uh, except they kind of are the same...), but it's worth bearing in mind for each of these pages. {{:User:Fizzle/sig}} 13:54, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

:::::Well...the surrounding locale is basically an intro to the dungeon in these games, especially with the way that Lorule is broken into pieces. Honestly, it would make the most sense to cover the surroundings as an intro in the dungeon article, rather than splitting it into "location" and "dungeon" bits. The overworld bits are...basically the front porch.[[User:KrytenKoro|KrytenKoro]] ([[User talk:KrytenKoro|talk]]) 20:02, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

::::::Not really, that's just the nature of the game being in 2D top down style. The sense of scale is just different. The Village of Outcasts or Thieves' Town would still be a notable location, dungeon or no dungeon, as would the others. I mean it's not like there's much to Zora's Fountain other than it being the location of Jabu Jabu and the Ice Cavern, but it's still a distinct location with plenty to say about it, as are the areas surrounding each dungeon in ALttP and ALBW (which are arguably more dense once you start rooting out all the secrets). Sometimes the effect of a location being in full 3D can mask how barren it sometimes is. Most of the individual areas in OoT don't contain anything particularly more noteworthy than any of the areas in ALttP do when you boil it down. Heck, if you imagined them in full 3D, they'd be pretty damn huge.{{:User:Fizzle/sig}} 03:38, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
