A character from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. He was the King of Hyrule at the time of the Flood outlined in the game's prologue. Daphnes is the man beyond the King of Red Lions, remotely operating it from his resting place at Hyrule Castle. After you defeat the Giant Bird, you will be shown at the Tower of the Gods and be sent back down to the castle under the sea, this time with the pirate, Tetra. Head down to where you got the Master Sword with Tetra and there you'll meet Daphes himself. He will tell you that he is the King of Red Lions and after he's done with his long speech, he will ask Tetra for the pendant around her neck. He will also take out a pendant from his robe and combine the two together, thus transforming Tetra into Zelda!!! After this he will ask you to regain the power of your triforce and reawaken the sages of the Master Sword.
When you have finally met Ganon, he will take you and obtain your triforce as well as Zelda's, thus completing the Triforce. Ganon is about to touch it and obtain full power over Hyrule, Daphes arrives to touche the Triforce first and requests a future for both Link and Zelda in order to defeat Ganon.
Once Link thrusts the Master Sword into Ganon, seawater begins to flood the ancient land of Hyrule. Zelda requests Daphnes to return to the surface for the means to aquire another land to create a new Hyrule. The king refuses, saying that the kingdom of Hyrule belongs to the past, and that land they seek will belong to the children of a new future. After the ocean drowns Hyrule, Link and Zelda rise to the surface with the king remaing with his doomed kingdom, presumably dying.
King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule is the last king of the long forgotten land of Hyrule. He is of the Royal Blood Line, just like Princess Zelda. To meet with Link, he remotely operates the King of Red Lions, a talking boat using magic. Judging by how he fades in and out of existence and how he's still living in Hyrule despite the fact that it had been sealed away by the gods long ago, he may be a ghost with a particularly strong presence. He may also be grounded spiritually to Hyrule as Link only meets him in person while in Hyrule. By the end of the game, the King wishes to the Triforce for Hyrule to be drowned. After the ocean drowns Hyrule, Link and Zelda rise to the surface with the king remaing with his doomed kingdom, presumably dying.

King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule is the King of Hyrule, a character which makes few appearances. In fact he only appears in two games with the first being A Link to the Past in the ending credits. In his second game, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, he had a more key role. Strangely enough there is no mention of a Queen.

A Link to the Past

According to the manual The King became deceived by the wizard Agahnim. After completing the game you are shown the cast members including the King.
