Unlike most miniboss areas in the game, the Dodongo Snake areas are unique in that Link can exit them at any time.  This is presumably so if Link runs out of Bombs, he can leave the room to refill and restart the battle later, in order to prevent the player from getting stuck in an unwinnable battle.
