Mazaal is the final boss inside the Fortress of Winds, during the adventure of The Minish Cap.  Although in similar appearance to Gohdan from The Wind Waker, the battle plays out differently.  Using the arrows, Link was able to strike down the hands of the statue.  Then, using the shrinking powers of the Minish Cap, was able to sneak inside the head of the statue.  Inside was a pillar, holding the statue in place.  Striking the pillar with the sword was the way to rid the Fortress of the boss.  However, with each successful attack, the boss filled it's head with sand, causing Link to use the Mole Mitts to dig the pillar from underneath it, to allow Link access.  Three successful visits to the statue's head gives Link his third element: The Wind Element... or so you would think. The Wind Element is gone, taken by the Wind Tribe, and in its place is the Ocarina of Winds.
