Biography
Richard is the pet dog of Mamamu Yan and lives with her in her house in Hyrule Castle Town when Link is a child. Mamamu Yan is infatuated with Richard, calling him her precious puppy and considering other dogs lesser to him[2][3].
At night however, Richard will run away to play with the other Dogs causing a worried Mamamu Yan to beg Link to look for him[4]. If Link succeeds in returning Richard home a joyful Mamamu Yan will give him with a reward[5]. Link is gifted a Piece of Heart when he first accomplishes this and a blue Rupee all subsequent times.
At some point during Links seven year absence Richard passed away. He is remembered fondly by Mamamu Yan, who tells Link that Talon reminds her of Richard before mentioning what a famous dog he used to be.
