Template:Item The Sheikah Slate is an item in Breath of the Wild.

Location and Uses

The Sheikah Slate is a multipurpose tool bearing the Eye Symbol of the Sheikah. Link obtains it shortly after being awakened by a disembodied voice in the Shrine of Resurrection. Though Link has no recollection of seeing it before, he finds it familiar.[1]

The Sheikah Slate can be used to access a map of Hyrule. The map displays Link's current location, the current temperature, and locations of certain objectives. It can also act as a key to grant access to any of the many Shrines of Trials and Sheikah Towers located across Hyrule.

Two unknown features, Album and Hyrule Compendium are found to the right of the map feature. At the beginning of the game, they are encrypted in Sheikah text with the message: 'The Sheikah Slate data has been damaged'.[2]

Scope

Link can use the Sheikah Slate as a Scope when the right analog stick is clicked down. In addition to providing a closer view, the Scope ability provides a first-person view from which Link can set Beacons and also determine an enemy's health by positioning the reticle over said enemy.

Rune Abilities

Main article: Rune

The Slate is able to receive Runes, a form of information that bestows the device a number of different abilities. These Runes can be obtained and installed onto the Slate at a number of Shrines of Trials found throughout Hyrule.

Trivia

The Sheikah Slate resembles a Nintendo Switch in shape.
