Again, are these templates really necessary? I know you seem to love making them, but can there be some justification? You're sticking them all over the place, and they're pretty drastic changes. There is no dire need for them, nor any at all, so why are you making so many of them? --Jase 21:04, 14 February 2007 (CST)

An addition

What do people think about adding the fan made games to this template? User:Melchizedek/sig 10:03, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

I'd say no. But there could be one just for the fan games.User:Matt/sig 10:06, November 9, 2008 (UTC)
An idea. How about we split the current template into two? Nintendo made and other made. So the Nintendo made would include the actual series and spin offs, and placed on all those proper pages. The other one would include all the fan games mentioned, and then the Phillips Cd-i games. User:Melchizedek/sig 07:53, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
An interesting idea, yes, but one I'm hesitant to implement. A lot of the non-canon games aren't particularly well-known by a lot of people (especially games like Tingle's Balloon Fight DS), and so splitting up the template would make it less likely that someone could find that article and learn from the information.
A separate fan game template might work, but... I might be a little biased there; I'm kind of against the fan game pages as it is as they seem to serve as little more than promotion for a person's own game. I don't think that a fan game article has ever been made by a third-party NOT involved in the game's creation. (I haven't done any direct research, mind you - I'm only speaking based off of the page histories I've looked at) I find it hard to justify NOT creating the template, though, when I'm supporting keeping the main games template as it is, so I certainly wouldn't out-right halt the creation of such a thing. I agree with you Ando. The fan articles are quite obviously written by the creators as endorcement. My idea for the two banners would separate them like this:
Template 1: (Canon and Nintendo)
Main Games
The Legend of Zelda · The Adventure of Link · A Link to the Past · Link's Awakening · Ocarina of Time (Master Quest) · Majora's Mask · Oracle of Ages · Oracle of Seasons · Four Swords · The Wind Waker · Four Swords Adventures · The Minish Cap · Twilight Princess · Phantom Hourglass
Spin-Off Games
Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland · Link's Crossbow Training · Tingle's Balloon Fight DS
Other Games
Super Smash Bros. · Super Smash Bros. Melee · Super Smash Bros. Brawl · Soul Calibur II · Captain Rainbow · The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition
Template 2: (Others)
Philips CD-i Games
Link: The Faces of Evil · Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon · Zelda's Adventure
Fan Made Games
The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage - The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage/Liyer - The Legend of Zelda: The Gerudo Wars - Hyrule Adventures 2 - The Legend of Zelda War of Time - The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage/Akazoo - The Legend of Zelda: The Fallen Sage/Sulkaris - The Legend of Zelda: Time's Menagerie
Zelda Game and Watch etc:

There has been no opposition to this idea. So I'm doing it.User:Matt/sig 22:20, November 27, 2008 (UTC)

I decided to leave out the Game & Watch thing. It is most because of the ampersand problem.User:Matt/sig 22:36, November 27, 2008 (UTC)
I also decided that we shouldn't put those character subpages on there.User:Matt/sig 22:52, November 27, 2008 (UTC)
Good work Matt. Good that you seized the initiative... I'll link to it for handyness. Template:OtherGames. User:Melchizedek/sig 10:44, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Ehh... I have a tendency to make typos that completely mess up the sentence in question. But yeah, I came across it when fixing redirects and I decided to do it.User:Matt/sig 10:59, November 28, 2008 (UTC)
