The Hinox is a character in A Link Between Worlds. It is a lone, friendly Hinox who lives inside a cave behind a waterfall in eastern Lorule.

Biography

The Hinox lives in a cave behind a waterfall in Lorule. When found and spoken to, he will bribe Link with Rupees to leave him alone. He will initially start with 5 Rupees, increasing the amount for every time Link speaks to him. However, if Link asks for too much, the Hinox will become enraged and demand his Rupees back, attacking Link with charges that inflict a huge amount of damage. Link will be able to attempt again later if he saves and quits, although returning immediately will cause the Hinox to resume his attacks. The Hinox cannot be harmed or stopped once he becomes hostile. The maximum amount of money the Hinox will offer before becoming angry is set at random each time, and will rise to a maximum of 300 Rupees.

If Link speaks to the Hinox after agreeing to leave him alone, he will tell Link to keep it a secret to everybody, as he has a reputation to protect.[1]

Trivia

  • The Hinox is likely a reference to the Moblins in The Legend of Zelda that could be found hidden around the overworld, who also give Link Rupees and tell him "it's a secret to everybody."
