Chicken gliding originated in The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. It's mechanics are fairly simple: have Link grab a Cucco, run off a ledge, and you will glide safely to the ground with the Cucco squirming and frantically flapping its wings (as Link holds it above his head) so as to get free. Chicken gliding did not play an important part in the game, but could be used to solve some puzzles. Chicken gliding appears to have returned in the upcoming game, Twilight Princess. Another point about Chicken gliding is that there are some debates on whether it should be called "Cucco Gliding" or remain as "Chicken Gliding"; the reason being that, in all Zelda games, chickens are referred to as "Cuccos".
