The "Fairy Fountain" theme has appeared in several Zelda games, and it is most notable for almost always being the background music for the file selection screen. It also serves as the theme for the Fairy Fountains and Great Fairy Fountains that appear throughout the series. It first appears as the game over music in the original Legend of Zelda and also plays during the ending. A remixed version of this song can be heard on the Ocarina of Time Re-Arranged Album.
Elements
This theme is very ethereal, with soft, repetitive harmonies and constantly shifting keys. The piece is composed of two main elements: a staccato melody that winds slowly up and down, and a fuller harmony that falls chromatically after every note of the melody.
Trivia
- A remixed version of the song is used in Super Mario Bros 3 as the map theme for World 3, Water Land.
