The are a race in SS. They are small creatures that live in the Faron Woods of the Faron Province. They have plantlike material on their bodies, with which they use to camouflage themselves in their woodland habitat.

The Kikwi are strange creatures that debuted in Skyward Sword. They are native to Faron Woods and their elder is Bucha.
Characteristics
The Kikwi are small, furry creatures that are a mix between animal and plant. Their bodies are a rotund, bottom-heavy pear shape, with their fur being a contrasting dark and light brown. They have short, white arms and stubby, black feet. Their faces consist of variously shaped black eyes and a short beak. On their posteriors is what looks like a bushy tail, but is actually a bud that blooms into a leafy bush under which a Kikwi can attempt to hide themselves. In addition, Kikwi also have a leafy plumage on the top of their heads resembling hair. Likewise, Kikwi can also grow facial hair, as is the case with the elders Bucha and Yerbal. The average size of a Kikwi is usually no more than half of Link's height. A notable exception to this is Bucha, who is much larger and towers over Link.

Characteristics
The Kikwi are herbivorous. They are a peaceful race who do not resort to violence, and instead do the opposite by hiding themselves at any sign of danger. Many of them are in fact quite cowardly, even believing Link and Fi are monsters when they first meet.
Kikwis' faces consist of variously shaped black eyes and a short beak on it. The top of their heads usually has some sort of short, green, plantlike outgrowth. They have short, white arms and stubby, black feet. Their bodies seem to have a rotund pear shape, with their fur being very contrasted dark and light brown. The overall size of a Kikwi seems to vary from half of Link's height to much larger than him. On their posteriors is what looks like a bushy tail, but it is actually a bud that blooms into a green bush under which a Kikwi can attempt to hide itself, like the Octoroks living in the area. A few of the Kikwi that Link meets, namely the elders Bucha and Yerbal, appear to have facial hair in the form of mustaches.

History
History
Link first encounters these creatures in the Faron Woods. While here, Link has to search for three missing Kikwis using Fi's dowsing ability, and in return, the elder Bucha rewards the young hero with the Slingshot.
The Kikwi were among the five races of the Surface who joined the Goddess Hylia in the war against the evil forces of Demise. During the Sky Era, the Kikwi live in the Faron Woods. Their patriarch is the Kikwi Elder Bucha, an older and much larger Kikwi.

Notable Kikwi
Shortly after Link first arrives to the forest, his Sword's Dowsing ability leads him to a pack of Bokoblins surrounding a frightened, hiding Kikwi. Link fights off the monsters, but the Kikwi runs away thinking he is one of them. The Kikwi, named Machi, relaxes once he realizes that Link is not a Bokoblin. Machi explains that he had encountered Zelda before him, who escaped with the elder Bucha as they were chased by the Bokoblins. Fi hypothesizes that the Dowsing ability led Link to the Kikwi due to a false-positive caused by Machi interacting with Zelda, and believes the ability should likewise lead them to Bucha. Link eventually finds Bucha, who confirms that he had indeed been with Zelda. However, Bucha is more worried about his tribe who have all gone missing during the monster panic. He asks that Link find the rest of his Kikwi, and he may remember Zelda's whereabouts once he is at ease. Fi upgrades Link's Dowsing ability to search for the remaining three Kikwi, all of which are hiding somewhere around the Woods from the monsters.
Bucha
Bucha

Bucha is the elder of the Kikwis. When Link first encounters him, he asks the young hero to find all of the missing Kikwis. In return, he gives Link the Slingshot.

Much later, after Link completes Farore's Silent Realm, he is led to the Great Tree where at the top he meets the Kikwi Hermit, Yerbal. Yerbal had left the other Kikwi long ago to climb the Tree and never came down, becoming a hermit. Yerbal helps Link by telling him the way to Lake Floria, where the Water Dragon Faron dwells.

Machi
Trivia
Machi
*The Kikwi are named after several varieties of tea.
Machi is the first Kikwi that Link encounters in Faron Woods. The young hero saves him from two Bokoblin, but Machi runs away, thinking that he is a green Bokoblin. After Link tracks him down, he tells the young hero that a blonde girl was being chased by Bokoblins, and had run off with Bucha.
*Erla and Yerbal both reference "It's a secret to everybody." Yerbal says it after he tells Link about Farore's Flame, while Erla says it when Link discovers his hiding place after the flooding of Faron Woods.

*Upon completing the Gratitude Crystal quest that requires Link to deliver Oolo the Kikwi to Owlan in Skyloft, Owlan does not know whether to classify the creatures as flora or fauna. Fascinated, he observes that the Kikwi may very well be a new species altogether.

Lopsa
Lopsa is a minor member of the Kikwi tribe. When Link encounters him, he is hiding on a tree branch from a Bokoblin. After Link defeats the Bokoblin, he will ask the young hero for help getting down. To do this, Link must roll into the tree, causing Lopsa to fall face first onto the ground.

{{Fi|Lopsa|I have recorded information on this creature.

Oolo
Oolo is a Kikwi sporting a leaf mohawk. He is found mimicking a bush when Link locates him.

After Link defeats Bilocyte, Link can speak to Owlan, who tells the young hero that he has completed his collection of all flora in Skyloft and asks him to find him a new specimen to examine. If Link brings him Oolo, Owlan will give the young hero five Gratitude Crystals. Afterwards, Oolo can be found in Owlan's room, complaining about the unwanted attention he is getting.

{{Fi|Oolo|I have recorded information on this creature.

Trivia
*It is likely that the Kikwis' names are references to varieties of tea. Their names resemble the words kombucha, matcha, earl (from Earl Grey), lapsang (from lapsang souchong), oolong, and either herbal or yerba from yerba mate. Their names in other languages show similarities to other teas, such as jasmine and chamomile.
*Two Kikwis use the famous quote: "It's a secret to everybody": Yerbal, after he tells Link about Farore's Flame, and Erla, when Link discovers his hiding place after the flooding of Faron Woods.Fact
*The Kikwi species may have been inspired - in physical appearance and in name - by the Kiwi bird.
