Poison Mites[1] are enemies in Twilight Princess. They are small insects similar in appearance to a scarab beetle.
Characteristics
Found only in the Arbiter's Grounds, Poison Mites crawl over Link in swarms, slowing him down. They can be killed with the Spin Attack. They also can be kept at bay with the Lantern lit, causing them to form a circle around Link. They usually appear near quicksand in an attempt to drag him down faster.
Despite their name, they are not poisonous, and cause no damage to Link.
Trivia
- Poison Mites bear similar traits with Morths.

They don't harm you, but they slow you down, and if you're wading through sand, this can spell doom! Don't stop and fight or you'll sink! Struggle to solid ground then bring out your sword and execute a spin attack." (The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Premiere Edition, Prima Games, pg. 288)
