What is monobook.css? I know monobook is the default skin of a Mediawiki wiki, but what is the purpose of this page, since I've seen other users make one? Steve 19:25, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is supposed to let you change the Monobook theme for the user alone. Basically customizing. This file along with monobook.js is supposed to let you make almost any modification you want. I've tried but have not been able to get it to work. The file monobook.css should let you change things like colors and such. The file monobook.js lets you write scripts. That gave give you things like: different toolbars custom, toolbar buttons, custom page tabs, etc. Everything I've tried here always seems to fail. But for some reason the exact same changes worked on just about all the other wikis that I tried. I'd need FTP access to get some understanding of how to make changes that would work. If I had that, I could teach everyone else how to make custom changes to the monobook skin.Emma (Talk) 19:47, October 9, 2008 (UTC)
Do you mean your having trouble finding where everything is in the css? I would recommemd the Fire Bug add-on for Firefox, it will tell you where something is in the css if you click on it. You can also edit the code and it will show you a preview of what the change would look like. There are some things that aren't in the monobook.css, but rather main.css as well. That might work. I've heard of it. But seeing as many sites block most users from looking at the site's FTP in read-only form, I doubted it would work on most sites. You should go suggest this add-on to Jason quick. That'll help him fix the color issues.Emma (Talk) 20:02, October 9, 2008 (UTC)
