Trivia
start
*ALBW is similar to Series in both appearance and personality.
Given that the Sages in A Link Between Worlds generally seem to relate to their Ocarina of Time counterparts, fans have assumed that Irene is a descendant – or at least a reference to – Nabooru, the Gerudo Sage of Spirit.
**Internal file names refer to ALBW as "Maple", indicating that she may have been planned to be Series or was intentionally based on her.

Irene's family is versed in magic and witchcraft, as were the Gerudo sisters Twinrova. Irene does not share the typical Gerudo appearance (namely, dark skin, amber eyes, and red hair) but this could be the result of extensive intermarriage of tribes between the Era of the Hero of Time and the events of ALBW. Further, Irene is held captive in a desert dungeon, much like Nabooru. This may constitute a deliberate reference, if nothing more.

Nomenclature
*Irene is similar to Maple in both appearance and personality.
The name Series derives from eirene, which is the Greek work for "peace."
*Irene's Japanese name アイリン may be derived from the word , meaning "indigo." This would be a reference to Irene's indigo motif – her eyes and hair are indigo, as is the frame of the painting she is captured in.
