The game is located in eastern {{Term|OoA|Rolling Ridge|link}} in the present and is run by the local {{Plural|OoA|Goron|link}}. {{Term|OoA|Target Carts}} costs 10 {{Plural|OoA|Rupee|link}} per play. Originally, a different game was found at this location,<ref name="Grandpa"/> called the {{Term|OoA|Goron Shooting Gallery|link}}, which can be played in the past.  

Once {{Term|OoA|Link|link}} defeats {{Term|OoA|Veran|link}}, {{Term|OoA|Dr. Troy|link}} will appear at the {{Term|OoA|Target Carts}}. He claims to be studying the {{Plural|OoA|Goron}} and their games.<ref>{{Cite|I've come to Rolling Ridge to study the Gorons and their games.|Dr. Troy|OoA}}</ref>

To play the game, {{Term|OoA|Link|link}} must have obtained the {{Term|OoA|Seed Shooter|link}}. The object of the game is to try to hit all twelve {{Term|OoA|Rupee}}-like crystals using the {{Term|OoA|Seed Shooter}} while being pulled along a track in a {{Term|OoA|Mine Cart|link}}.<ref>{{Cite|Welcome to Target Carts! If you hit enough targets, you win a prize!|Goron|OoA}}</ref> If {{Term|OoA|Link}} successfully destroys nine to eleven targets, he will win 20 {{Plural|OoA|Rupee}}.<ref>{{Cite|Up to 3 misses wins 20 Rupees.|Goron|OoA}}</ref> A more special prize is obtained by destroying all twelve targets. The first time this is accomplished, {{Term|OoA|Link}} will receive the {{Term|OoA|Rock Brisket|link}}, which is a key {{Term|OoA|Item}} in the obtention of the {{Term|OoA|Old Mermaid Key|link}}. The {{Term|OoA|Rock Brisket}} is required to enter the {{Term|OoA|Mermaid's Cave|link}}, making it necessary for {{Term|OoA|Link}} to get a perfect score at {{Term|OoA|Target Carts}} at least once. If {{Term|OoA|Link}} does it a second time, he has a random chance of receiving the {{Term|OoA|Boomerang|link}}. Otherwise, the prize will either be {{Plural|OoA|Rupee|link}} or a {{Term|OoA|Gasha Seed|link}}.

When playing the {{Term|OoS|Linked Game|link|display=linked verison}} of {{OoS}}, {{Term|OoS|Link}} will obtain a secret password that can be told to {{Term|OoA|Dr. Troy}} in {{OoA|-}}.
