In {{TLoZ}}, a single Dodongo appears as the [[Boss]] of {{Term|TLoZ|Level 2|link}} of the First Quest. In addition, Dodongos appear in a group of three as the Boss of {{Term|TLoZ|Level 3|link}} and {{Term|TLoZ|Level 8|link}} of the [[Second Quest]]. Each group guards a fragment of the [[Triforce of Wisdom]]. Dodongos also appear in {{Term|TLoZ|Level 5|link}} and {{Term|TLoZ|Level 7|link}} of the First Quest as well as {{Term|TLoZ|Level 1|link}}, {{Term|TLoZ|Level 4|link}}, and Level-8 of the Second Quest. [[Link]] must use [[Bomb]]s to defeat Dodongos, either by placing two Bombs in their mouth or by Bombing their side and hitting them once with his {{Term|TLoZ|Sword|link}}. If they are defeated with a Sword, Link is rewarded with four Bombs. When defeated with Bombs, Dodongos may drop either a [[Heart]], a [[Fairy]], or one [[Rupee]].{{Note|If {{Term|TLoZ|Link|link}} defeats 10 enemies without getting hit or teleporting with the {{Term|TLoZ|Recorder|link}}, then the 10th enemy defeated will drop five {{Plural|TLoZ|Rupee|link}}.
