The {{Term/Store|Tail Cave||Series, LA, LADX}} is the first {{Term|LA|Dungeon|link}} in {{LA}}.<ref name="E"/>

The entrance to the {{Term|LA|Dungeon|link}} is located south of {{Term|LA|Mabe Village|link}} and north of {{Term|LA|Toronbo Shores|link}}.<ref>{{Cite Text Dump|LADX|283}}</ref> In order to open the gate and enter the {{Term|LA|Dungeon}}, {{Term|LA|Link|link}} needs to insert the {{Term|LA|Tail Key|link}} found in the {{Term|LA|Mysterious Woods|link}} into the {{Term|LA|Tale Keyhole|link}} which is located in the central {{Term|LA|Mini-Moldorm|link}} statue in front of the {{Term|LA|Tail Cave}}.<ref>{{Cite Text Dump|LADX|256}}</ref> Doing so will cause the bars blocking the entrance to rise up, allowing entry.

The {{Term|LADX|Dungeon|link}} appears to be carved into a cave of pink-colored stone with a floor made up of blue and grey stone. Like other {{Plural|LA|Dungeon}} in {{LA}}, {{Term|LADX|Tail Cave}} is shaped in accordance to its name, resembling {{Term|LADX|Moldorm (Boss)|link}}.<ref name="E Dungeons">{{Cite Book|quote= |book= E|publisher= |page= 148}}</ref> It contains 25 different screens and four underground ones which can be accessed by using staircases. Among those rooms, one of them is dedicated to defeating {{Plural|LA|Three-of-a-Kind|link}}, while another one holds a {{Plural|LA|Secret Seashell|link}} but must first be blasted open using a {{Term|LADX|Bomb|link}}.

Deep within {{Term|LADX|Tail Cave}}, {{Term|LADX|Link|link}} comes across {{Term|LADX|Rolling Bones|link}}, a {{Term|LADX|Boss|link}} that attacks with a {{Term|LADX|Rolling Spike Trap|link}} that spans the length of the chamber, hoping to crush {{Term|LADX|Link}}. Making good use of the {{Term|LADX|Roc's Feather|link}} found in {{Term|LADX|Tail Cave}}, {{Term|LADX|Link}} is able to jump over the {{Term|LADX|Rolling Spike Trap}} and slash {{Term|LADX|Rolling Bones}} with his {{Term|LADX|Sword|link}}.<ref>{{Cite Book|quote= |book= E|publisher= |page= 200}}</ref> With the defeat of {{Term|LADX|Rolling Bones}}, {{Term|LADX|Link}} opens the way to {{Term|LADX|Tail Cave}}'s {{Term|LADX|Nightmare|link}} guarding the {{Term|LADX|Full Moon Cello|link}}, {{Term|LADX|Moldorm (Boss)|link}}.<ref>{{Cite Text Dump|LADX|271}}</ref>
