In order to use a pot, Link must first light the fire resting beneath it. After doing so, Link can combine various materials within the pot and cook them, thus producing a new [[food]] item which will typically feature much improved restorative properties and/or status buffs. The materials that Link can place in the pot include any ingredients that are edible in themselves, as well as some collectibles that cannot be consumed until combined and cooked. Up to five materials can be combined in a pot. The items that are produced span a variety of foods and elixirs.

The pots appear to be quite large, seemingly being several in-game feat in width. They are made of stone, and rest upon black-metal frames with four legs that lift the pots above the open-air fires beneath.
