The ZU Council of United Wise Men (UWM) (not to be confused with the BA Council) was a coalition of timeline theorists operating out of ZU's theories forum.

The 1st Congress of United Wise Men

The First Congress was founded by LOZ Historian over the summer of 2006 in a response to the growing popularity of the so-called Split Timeline. At first, the coalition consisted of himself, silver arrow, Master of ALttP, ZeldaGamer21 (later known as Sentient), HeroOfTime5, and the newbie timeline theorist LionHarted (later known as Seran Aileron or Lex). This group of theorists gathered together to formulate evidence and resources for what is now called the United Wise Men's timeline, a linear timeline, and their theories stood relatively unchanged in terms of game order until the announcement confirming the Split Timeline (also known as the Blue Swamp incident). Since the group's inception, they recruited a theorist who calls himself Dark Link, and established a group of junior theorists called the Hylian Knights.

The 2nd Congress of United Wise Men

Due to the sudden retirement of the group's founder LOZ Historian, Lex was promoted as the leader of the group. A new theorist known as Raian (previously jhurvid) was called in to fill the open position in the United "Seven" Wise Men. Prior to this, Raian had been in charge of the The Hylian Knights group. However, as Lex decided to cut down his time devoted to ZU, his banner was given to Daphnes, who was previously a Hylian Knight, and LOZ Historian reassumed the leadership position to fill the void left by Lex. Dark Link had gone inactive from timeline debating and his banner disappeared. Vaati (who later changed his username a billion times) received his. All the other Wise Men held their banners and made their daily visits to the Timeline Section. With Raian now a Wise Man, Uncle Meat had become the leader of the Knights. Lex announced that he will resume work with the Wise Men on a minimal level as an Executive Associate and returned briefly to ZU before electing again to return to his temporary ZU/IM hiatus for personal reasons. Uncle Meat accepted his position temporarily before the group was finally disbanded.

In the wake of the "Blue Swamp incident", the course of the Wise Men's activity changed drastically, along with a massive overhaul of hierarchy. Lex, along with Raian, Uncle Meat and MDK drifted toward a marginally more neutral position, and most of the rest of the Wise Men and Knights elected to follow the New Child Story Theory.

The group disbands

As the group was heavily based on the idea of a single timeline, the "Blue Swamp incident" was a deadly blow to the UWM. While many members of the group, including its leaders, didn't cling on to the theory "religiously" and welcomed the new revelation as a settlement to an argument that had divided the community for years, they felt no reason to go on as a group. The initial intention of The Council was to provide a balance to the overly popular split timeline, which at the time could not be proven to be fact, just as the single timeline.

Some actions of the founder of the group, LOZ Historian, had gained it and its members a bad name among the ZU community and by the time the group finally decided to disband, people outside the the theory section were mainly amused or annoyed at the whole ordeal. LOZ Historian posted several, amazingly long goodbye threads which were greeted with very mixed feelings. By this time unbeknownst to the ZU community, the staff was already planning to put a stop to the group with the formation of The Bombers.

Life after UWM

The Bombers group was launched early 2007, along with a writing competition which most of the UWM took part in and eventually gaining membership. Those accepted into the new "official" group eventually moved on to work on ZeldaInformer when the group jumped boat because of dissatisfaction of how things were run (or not run) in ZU. LOZ Historian apparently left the internet and hasn't been seen in the forums since.

Legacy

Forming the group in 2006 LOZ Historian started a trend that can still be seen sweeping the boards of Zelda Universe. People form all kinds of groups and alliances and show this by creating custom banners and including them in their signatures. The group can also be seen partly responsible for creating Zelda Theories board on ZU forums and greatly increasing peoples interest in the field of theorising. They were also the driving force behind The Bombers when they first started out, even though the group was already officially disbanded.

At the peak of its activity the group also inspired a competitor, The Allied Splitist Elders, ASE for short. The ASE group was never considered to be nothing more than an ego booster for its founder The Black Knight (better known as TBK), whose skills in debate and knowledge of Zelda were below that of an average ZU theorist. He also managed to annoy even more people than LOZ Historian with his melodramatic and childish behavior and constant hunger for internet drama. Eventually this lead to the point where Starship ZUChat decided to put a stop to everything by hacking into TBK's forums, after discovering his plans to overthrow The Bombers and take control of the ZU Theory Section. TBK was banned shortly after and hasn't been seen since.
