The Acheman is a bat-demon that is part of the enemy force led by Ganon in The Adventure of Link. Although they do not diguise themselves as Hyruleans, like Aches, they have a far more dangerous transformation.

Hanging from the ceilings of their abode, they may resemble an Ache at first glance, albeit a deep red one. When it senses an intruder nearby it will swoop down like an Ache. However, when the Acheman touches ground, it transforms into a vampire-like demon that spits fire at intruders. After a few volleys of fire, the Acheman will have to recharge and retreat into bat form to regain energy in a safe place. The Acheman is significantly stronger than its Ache relatives, but can still be killed with Link's blade.

Trivia

  • The Acheman is likely a reference to the Devil from Devil World, a 1984 NES game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takeshi Tezuka. In addition to the similar appearance, the same fireball sound effect and sprite was reused.[1]
