Pig says it deals out three hearts of damage, and I think that was the right number... but I don't know.--Smartkidhen 19:14, 7 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It is three hearts. The page said four, but I have corrected that. Kyro-Dizzy

I've found no proof that Link the Pig can be a color other than grayish-black. I am aware that the figurine depicts it as pink, but nothing else. Could someone give me a source for this information? Kyro-Dizzy

I know firsthand that the pig can be solid pink or spotted, but I believe the algorithm listed on this page is wrong. My most recent playthrough, I brought spotted first, then solid pink second, and didn't bring back black at all; according to the algorithm on the page, the giant pig should have been spotted, but in my playthrough it ended up solid pink. What I've figured may be the true algorithm for the pig's color is as follows:
  • If the black pig is brought back, that's the color the giant pig will be regardless of any other pigs brought back; the black pig has precedence over the others.
  • If the solid pink pig is brought back, it will become the giant pig as long as you don't bring back the black pig, regardless of whether or not you bring back the spotted pig; the solid pink pig has precedence over the spotted pig, but not the black pig.
  • The spotted pig will only become the giant pig if it's the only pig brought back. Any other pig brought back will take precedence over the spotted pig.
  • As I'm a player that always goes for every single Heart Piece, I've never played through the game not bringing back any pigs whatsoever, so I don't know what would happen if you tried...
The primary reason people believe the giant pig must be black no matter what is probably because they always bring back all of the pigs, unaware of what one must do to get the giant pig to be solid pink or spotted as opposed to being black...--Shiningpikablu252 19:53, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
Wow, almost 10 years and about as many playthroughs later and I'm still learning new things about TWW. Go figure!
I have a feeling the giant black pig still appears even if you don't bring any pigs to the pen at the start of the game. Not 100% sure about that though. — Hylian King [*] 20:25, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, you're right about the "no pigs" outcome; hard to believe I've watched the entire chuggaaconroy LP of the game and never actually remembered that he never actually pursued the pigs! (Had to thumb back through said LP to look up the outcome!) --Shiningpikablu252 21:07, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
That explains things. I always bring back all of the pigs, so as to get as many Rupees as I can. I've not gone through without doing that yet.
Also, the "no pigs" outcome makes sense, because the father, Abe, tells Link about how he plans to catch it, since Rose tells you that they want a pet. In other words, if you don't get one, he will. Kyro-Dizzy
