:I actually agree that they're different places, if I'm correct, the backstory to Four Swords claims that the Four Sword Sanctuary was built by people who honored the Four Sword, while the Elemental Sanctuary I believe is a place that can open only every century.  Also, 聖域 can translate to either Sanctuary, Sacred Grounds, and/or Shrine.  聖城 refers to a Sacred Palace or Sacred Castle.  But yeah, I agree that the two sanctuaries aren't the same because they have differnt tales, functions, locations, and depictions.  --[[User:Vaati The Wind Demon|Vaati The Wind Demon]] ([[User talk:Vaati The Wind Demon|talk]]) 02:33, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

The Elemental Sanctuary and Four Sword Sanctuary in Hyrule Historia

Hyrule Historia uses the terms 聖城 and 聖域. The first one appears in the sections for TMC and FS, and the second for FSA (link). They can be translated as sanctuary or sacred precincts (link 1) (link 2). The unofficial translation on GlitterBerri's site refers to the one in FSA as Four Sword Shrine. I think it would be better if it was translated as Four Sword Sanctuary in Hyrule Historia, since this is the term used in-game.
Apparently the translators assumed that the places are the same and the term "Four Sword Sanctuary" doesn't appear at all in HH. The Japanese version doesn't make this assumption. I think we can agree that "sanctuary" and "sacred precincts" are generic terms. The fact that the Four Sword Sanctuary is in Hyrule, while the Elemental Sanctuary is located between Hyrule and the Minish World casts doubt on whether they are the same. I actually agree that they're different places, if I'm correct, the backstory to Four Swords claims that the Four Sword Sanctuary was built by people who honored the Four Sword, while the Elemental Sanctuary I believe is a place that can open only every century. --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 02:33, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
