Gold Skulltulas (黄金のスタルチュラ, Ougon no Sutaruchura) are special gold versions of the Skulltula. They can be found in both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

Ocarina of Time

In Ocarina of Time, when these creatures are destroyed they leave tokens, a fact which sets them apart from their larger, common counterparts. When Link destroys certain numbers of these creatures, he is given rewards including the Adult's Wallet and the Giant's Wallet by a cursed family found in Kakariko village.

Gold Skulltalas like soft soil and munching on small bugs. They can be found at night or in small, dark places, and can be heard by their distinctive scraping sound. Some, at least early on in the adventure, can be walked up to and killed, the token achieved just by walking up to it, but as the story goes on, some Gold Skulltula tokens may require a Hookshot, Longshot, or Boomerang to be achieved, especially since they tend to favor dark, high walls and surfaces far out of Link's relatively short reach.

Majora's Mask

In Majora's Mask, there are two Skulltula Houses (the Swamp Spider House and Oceanside Spider House) which contain 30 Gold Skulltulas each. The Gold Skulltulas here do not drop tokens but instead drop Gold Skulltula Spirits. If all 30 of the spirits are claimed within one three-day cycle, a reward will be waiting for Link.

Glitch

In Ocarina of Time, at Hyrule Castle, near where the drain entrance is to the inner courtyard, there is a secret hole near a tree, opened with the Song of Storms. In this hole a Golden Skulltulla could be found. By killing it, boomeranging the resulting token and stepping into the light as soon as the boomerang approaches you (NOT as soon as you grab it), a glitch would occur where the skulltulla would not register as destroyed, and respawn every time this was done, as long as it was done correctly. By this, many more than 100 Skulltulla tokens were achievable. In The Collector's Edition version, the glitch remains still intact.
