The following events occur in the Valiant Comics of The Legend of Zelda. In the timeline of the Zelda series, this occurs after The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link.

The Day of the Triforce happens one day a decade when all three Triforces disappear for one day. On this day, Ganon was afraid that he would be attacked while his Triforce of Power was gone, so he sent a pack of Lynels to the city Saria (in this time, there were cities named after the sages). A healer from Saria, named Cassiopia, fled to the North Palace of Hyrule to get help. The Princess Zelda and Cassiopia took and underground passageway to Saria. By the time they got there, the city was already aflame and its citizens enslaved by the Lynels. Zelda shot down some of the monsters with arrows while Cassiopia freed her husband with her Magic Boomerang. The citizens were encouraged by Zelda's help and rebelled against the Lynels with whatever they could find, such as pans, pitchforks, paddles, etc. Soon the citizens, Zelda, and Cassiopia had won. Soon after the fight, Zelda and Cassiopia were informed by Cassiopia's husband that their young son, Rus, had been bitten by a Rope snake while trying to escape the Lynels. Zelda decided to go to the Magic Spring and bring back a fairy to save Rus, when Cassiopia's husband said that Zelda should go to Death Mountain and kill Ganon since his Triforce was gone. Zelda went to Death Mountain and worked her way through Ganon's labyrinth until she arrived at the throne room of the Prince of Darkness himself. She pulled out a Silver Arrow and threatened Ganon, when he unintentionally revealed that the destruction of Saria was meant to be a distraction. Zelda nocked the silver arrow and aimed at Ganon when she heard someone outside Ganon's room somewhere in the dungeon. She left Ganon's room. As soon as she left, Ganon closed all the shutters to his room, making sure none could kill him on the day he had no Triforce of Power. Zelda reached the room the cry of help was coming from. It was coming from a fairy named Miff, who was about to be eaten by two monsters. Zelda used the Magic Boomerang to free Miff and scare away the two monsters. Seeing the fairy, Zelda remembered about Rus, and took the fairy with her out of the dungeon. Meeting her as she left the dungeon were five Stalfos, a Moblin, a Darknut, and a few other monsters. All seemed hopeless until the villagers of Saria came to her rescue and defeated the monsters. When they all went back to Saria, Miff saved Rus, but Ganon had survived his closest encounter with death.

At the same time this was all going on, another adventure was occurring with Link. Link returned to his home in Calatia. When he opened the door to his home, his parents, Arn and Medila, looked frightened and Arn punched Link to the ground claiming that he wasn't really Link. Confused, Link went into the town and announced to the citizens that he was back from Hyrule, and all the citizens ran away from him, afraid. Further confused, Link went to Queen Seline, the Queen of Calatia, but when he entered her throne room, someone that looked just like Link, but wearing royal clothes, turned around and said, "She is my prisoner...Just like you!" and a reptile-like enemy I have not yet identified hit Link on the back of the head with the flat end of his axe, but Link remained awake. When a monster commented on how amazing Link's stamina was, the Link look-alike replied, "...No less than I'd expect...from myself." and Link fainted. He awoke in a tower used as a prison with Queen Seline standing over him. She said that she was in the prison after she was defeated by someone that looked just like her and had all her powers. The two were brought to the throne of the Link look-alike to be executed, when Seline demanded her right of life trial, a trial by combat to prove her innocence and stated that Link would fight in her place. It was set: Link would fight the fake Link to see who was real the next morning. The fake Link was worried that he would be defeated, so he devised a plan. At night, Link saw a magical projection of Zelda telling him that monsters attacked the North Palace and that Link should report to the palace to save her immediately or she would die, but Link declined, as he had already pledged allegiance to fight for Seline. The projection left, and the reader of the comic is shown that the projection was actually the Link look-alike disguised as Zelda trying to get Link to leave. The worried and angry look-alike was alerted by the magical projection of Ganon that tomorrow was the Day of the Triforce, and that he should easily be able to beat Link if Link had no Triforce. The morning of the fight, Link realized that his Triforce was gone, but Seline said that she believed in him anyway. Soon later, in a place called the Arena of Life, the fight began. The fight was one-sided without the Triforce of Courage, and Link was soon on the ground of the arena with a sword over his throat. Link then did a flip landing the impostor hanging on the edge of the bridge of the arena, which was over a lake of lava, with Link hanging on to the imposter's leg. Link held his sword to the back of his impostor when it was revealed that the impostor was none other than Dark Link from Link's second adventure (Adventure of Link). Dark Link surrendered and Link spared his life. The defeat of Dark Link proved that Link was who he was and saved the people from another attack from Dark Link.
