Features and Overview
The desert start area features a large amount of Boons and tall dunes. A cavern links to the rocky shore of the desert, where the Water Lady is returning from the coast where she collected Water of Life. She gives Zelda her water, healing her, and mentions that the  Fisherman got stuck in the region's most notable landmark; a massive fish carcass. If Zelda uses the Power Glove on the Boulder on top of the skull she'll free the Fisherman, and earn a key to the last house in Sakado, where he is going to have his new job as a blacksmith.
Ahitaru is a large desert in the north-east area of Gamelon, close to the eastern coast of the island. It is a dry region with tall sand dunes and large rock formations, inhabited by Arpagos, Boons and Gohmas. The first section of Ahitaru is a vast desert, whereas the second section is much closer to the coast, where the sea can be seen on the horizon.

Ahitaru is the first area in which Zelda can obtain the Water of Life, which she can receive by talking to the Water Lady.
In the first section, large amounts of Boons swarm the area, and will actively try to pursue Zelda. At the end of this section is a small cave where Gohmas live, which links to the rocky shore where a large pit known as the Gohma Pit is found. Zelda can cross this pit by leaping onto the stones and then jumping over the pit. A woman encountered here on the other side of the pit, the Water Lady, congratulates Zelda on fighting the Gohmas and gives her a jar of Water of Life, healing her. She also mentions that a fisherman, Yokan, is trapped in the region's most notable landmark; a massive fish carcass. Zelda leaves to investigate by destroying the boulder covering the head's eye socket, either by using ten Bombs or the Power Glove. Yokan thanks her for saving him, and leaves for the town of Sakado, dropping a Key to the town's smithy as he leaves. A Triforce Map appears inside the skeleton, and upon completion, Shutoy Lake opens up as a new stage.

After its completion, the Shutoy Lake becomes available.
