Ampilus Eggs are enemies in Skyward Sword. They are the larval stage of Ampilus and can only be found as a result of using a Timeshift Stone on a nearby Ampilus.

Characteristics and Weaknesses

Similarly to their adult forms, Ampilus Eggs have the ability to periodically emit electricity. Because of their propensity to generate electricity, Ampilus Eggs provide power to the remote power nodes within the Lanayru Desert. To place these enemies in the power nodes, Link can carry them with the Hook Beetle or move them by stabbing them with the Sword. However, Link will sustain damage if he strikes them when they are generating electricity; though the Beetle is immune.

Unlike their older counterparts, Ampilus Eggs cannot be killed, as their shell protects them completely.

Trivia

  • The relationship between Ampilus and Ampilus Eggs is similar to that of Moldarach and Aracha, as both of them grow from their larval stage into their adult forms over an extensive period of time.[1] However, unlike Ampilus, it is impossible to bring a Moldarach into the field of a Timeshift Stone.
