In {{TLoZ}}, Aquamentus appears as the [[Boss]] of {{Term|TLoZ|Level 1|link}} and {{Term|TLoZ|Level 7|link}} of the First Quest as well as Level-1 of the [[Second Quest]]. It guards a fragment of the [[Triforce of Wisdom]]. Aquamentus also appears in {{Term|TLoZ|Level 4|link}} and {{Term|TLoZ|Level 8|link}} of the Second Quest. Aquamentus slowly walks back and forth and periodically shoots a group of three fireballs out of its mouth.<ref>{{Cite Manual|quote= Aquamentus: A Unicorn having lots of attacking power. Link can damage an Aquamentus with his {{Term|TLoZ|Sword|link}} or [[Bomb]]s, but can also attack from a distance by throwing his Sword, shooting the [[Bow]] and [[Arrow]] or using the [[Magical Rod]]. Aquamentus cannot be stunned by the [[Boomerang]] and is invulnerable to [[Fire]]. In {{OoS}}, Aquamentus is the Boss of the first [[Dungeon]], [[Gnarled Root Dungeon]], a Dungeon that resembles Level-1 from {{TLoZ|-}}.<ref>{{Cite Guide|quote= |game= OoS|publisher= Nintendo|page= 19}}</ref> In addition to its attacks from ''The Legend of Zelda'', Aquamentus now has the ability to charge across the room. After dashing and slamming into the wall, the Aquamentus flies back to the right side of the room. Before emitting beams, its horn will glow. Upon the dragon's defeat, Link receives a Heart Container and the first [[Essence of Nature]], {{Term|OoS|Fertile Soil|link}}.

An Aquamentus is depicted as a horse-like monster in the "[[Underworld Connections]]" episode of {{TLoZ|TV Series}}. As Link is retrieving a shard of the [[Triforce of Wisdom]] while swimming in the [[Black Falls]], an Aquamentus appears out of a dark, underwater cave. The Aquamentus takes him to the surface while Link is riding on top of it, struggling.<ref name="TLoZ 1 08"/> [[Princess Zelda]] then grabs a Bomb from Link's pouch and throws it at the Aquamentus, which instantly defeats it.<ref>{{Cite Episode|quote=Bombs away!|name=Princess Zelda|show=The Legend of Zelda|episode=8}}</ref>

Aquamentus appears as the Boss of {{Term|BSTLoZ|Level 1|link}} and {{Term|BSTLoZ|Level 7|link}}, and as a Mini-Boss in {{Term|BSTLoZ|Level 8|link}}, in {{BSTLoZ}}. It is fought in the same manner as in {{TLoZ|-}}. In its latter two appearances, Aquamentus is much stronger and more animated, shooting fireballs more frequently and requiring several hits before turning blue, then finally turning red after several more hits, before being defeated.
